Versailles Parquet-01 — AB Select Brushed Oak 800×800mm Engineered Parquet Panel UV Lacquer
Versailles Parquet-01 — AB Select Brushed Oak 800×800mm Engineered Parquet Panel UV Lacquer
Versailles Parquet-01 is an 800×800mm factory-assembled engineered oak Versailles parquet panel in AB select grade with a brushed surface and UV lacquer finish: 15/4mm multi-layer construction with a 4mm solid European oak wear layer, tongue-and-groove (T&G) installation by full glue-down.
The Versailles parquet pattern — named for the Grande Galerie of the Palace of Versailles where it was originally installed in the 17th century — is the most architecturally significant floor pattern in the European classical tradition. Each 800×800mm panel is a complete, self-contained geometric composition: a central square field of short staves laid in alternating horizontal and vertical groups creating a woven basket-weave effect, framed by diagonal border bands of single staves and an outer perimeter frame of parallel strips. When panels are assembled across a room, these geometric elements align across panel joints to form a continuous, room-scale pattern of exceptional visual complexity and architectural authority.
Factory pre-assembly of the Versailles pattern into 800×800mm panels is what makes this historically complex floor practical for modern installation: each panel arrives at site as a precision-engineered unit, pre-assembled and finished, requiring only full-spread adhesive application and placement. The AB select grade and brushed UV lacquer surface deliver a clean, refined aesthetic appropriate for the pattern's classical origins and contemporary design-led applications.

Pattern
Versailles Parquet — the classic French court parquet pattern originating in the Palace of Versailles, 17th century.
Colour
Versailles Parquet-01 Natural Oak — warm honey-sand; the natural, unmodified colour of AB select European oak under UV lacquer; pale cream-beige with warm golden undertones; the AB grade delivers consistent, even board colour within each panel with minimal sapwood-to-heartwood variation; the natural colour reads as warm, classical, and appropriate for the historical French court origins of the Versailles pattern; European oak will develop warm golden patination over time
Surface Treatment
Brushed — wire or nylon brushes remove soft early-wood fibres to expose the harder late-wood grain lines in tactile relief; the brushing adds fine grain texture and depth to the natural oak surface within each stave of the Versailles pattern; the brushed texture is consistent across all stave elements of the panel
Finish
UV Lacquer — hard, clear factory-applied finish across the full assembled panel surface; seals and protects the brushed oak surface and natural colour; scratch and stain resistant; easy daily maintenance; no periodic re-oiling required; the UV lacquer sheen is controlled and matte-satin on the brushed surface
Grading
AB — Select Grade: consistent clean oak boards with tight or absent knots; minimal sapwood variation; furniture-quality boards; AB grade is the correct specification for Versailles parquet panels where the visual focus is on the geometric pattern formation — the complex geometry of the Versailles design requires clean, consistent board colour to read with maximum clarity

The Palace of Versailles Pattern in a Practical Engineered Panel Format

Versailles Parquet-01 makes one of the most complex and historically significant floor patterns in the European classical tradition practical and accessible: factory pre-assembly into precision 800×800mm engineered panels eliminates the on-site complexity of traditional solid wood Versailles installation while preserving the full visual impact and geometric authority of the pattern.
Traditional Versailles parquet in solid oak requires individual stave cutting, fitting, and assembly on site by specialist parquet craftsmen — a process requiring weeks of skilled labour and significant material waste. The AMUER factory pre-assembly approach compresses this complexity into a controlled manufacturing process: each 800×800mm panel is precision-assembled from individually graded AB select oak staves in the AMUER China factory, finished with brushed surface treatment and UV lacquer, and delivered to site as a complete, ready-to-install unit. On site, installation requires only subfloor preparation, full-spread adhesive application, and panel placement — the geometric precision of the Versailles pattern is engineered into the panels, not dependent on on-site craftsmanship.
The multi-layer engineered construction provides the dimensional stability that the 800×800mm panel format requires: where solid wood Versailles panels would be susceptible to significant seasonal movement at this scale, the multi-ply cross-laminated core of Versailles Parquet-01 resists expansion and contraction under humidity and temperature variation, maintaining the geometric precision of the assembled pattern year-round.
The AB select grade and brushed UV lacquer surface complete the specification: AB selects for consistent, clean oak that allows the Versailles geometry to read with maximum clarity, and the UV lacquer provides practical durability appropriate for the residential and commercial environments where a Versailles floor is specified.
Design Guide
Versailles Parquet-01's natural honey-sand AB select colour, 800×800mm panel scale, classical French pattern heritage, and UV lacquer finish make it one of the most architecturally authoritative floor specifications available:
French Classical & Grand European
French Classical & Grand European
Versailles parquet in natural honey-oak is the floor of French classical interiors: deep royal blue or bottle green walls, gilded or painted classical joinery, marble chimneypieces, aged brass and gold fixtures, and damask or silk upholstery. The warm honey-sand reads as period-appropriate and historically consistent with the pattern's origins in the Louis XIV court.
Contemporary Classical & New Luxury Versailles Parquet-01
Contemporary Classical & New Luxury
For new-build luxury residential and contemporary classical interiors — large open-plan spaces with high ceilings, pale plaster walls, marble and stone surfaces, and refined contemporary furniture — Versailles Parquet-01's natural honey-oak brings historical pattern authority and material warmth to spaces that might otherwise read as generic. The pattern's geometric complexity creates visual interest that contemporary minimal interiors often lack.
Installation — Versailles Panel Glue-Down Guide
Glue-Down Installation (Concrete / Screed)
Full-spread adhesive application is the standard installation method for Versailles Parquet-01.

· Adhesive: flexible polyurethane or MS polymer adhesive — full trowel spread across the entire panel back using the correct notched trowel size specified by the adhesive manufacturer
· Apply adhesive to subfloor in manageable sections; do not allow adhesive to skin before panel placement
· Place panels onto adhesive, press firmly and evenly across the full panel surface
· Engage T&G profile between adjacent panels — use rubber mallet and tapping block on panel edge; never strike the panel face
· Weight panels during cure to ensure full contact with adhesive
· Expansion gap: 12mm minimum at all walls and fixed objects; cover with skirting or threshold strip
· Acclimatise panels 72 hours at room temperature before installation
· Allow adhesive to cure minimum 48 hours before foot traffic; 72 hours before normal use
Subfloor Preparation
The 800×800mm panel format is less tolerant of subfloor undulation than narrow plank products — any variation is magnified across the large panel. Subfloor preparation is the most critical step for Versailles panel installation.

· Flatness: 2mm per 2m maximum — tighter than standard plank; grind high spots and fill low spots with floor levelling compound
· Dryness: concrete subfloor maximum 75% RH (BRE method); anhydrite screed maximum 65% RH before installation
· Structural: no bounce, no flex, no hollow areas
· Prime concrete or anhydrite subfloors with compatible primer before adhesive application
Panel Layout Planning
· Establish room centre point; snap chalk lines on both axes at 90° to establish the panel grid
· Dry-lay a section of panels to confirm the grid reads correctly and border panels at walls are acceptable width (minimum half panel at all walls)
· The Versailles pattern has no dominant grain direction — panels can be oriented in any direction, but consistency across the room is essential

Notes
Grand Drawing Rooms & Reception Rooms
Exceptional
Versailles Parquet-01 is purpose-built for large, formal reception rooms where the floor is a primary architectural statement. The 800×800mm panel scale reads correctly in rooms with generous proportions and ceiling heights — the pattern's compartmental geometry creates visual order and grandeur appropriate for the most significant rooms in a property.
Entrance Halls of Large Properties
Exceptional
A Versailles parquet entrance hall is one of the most powerful first impressions a property can make. The pattern's classical French authority, warm honey-gold colour, and room-scale geometric composition establish the architectural character of the entire property from the moment of entry. Minimum recommended hall dimension: 4m × 4m for the pattern to read at full scale.
Period Property Renovation
Exceptional
For Georgian, Regency, French Empire, Second Empire, and Beaux-Arts period property renovation, the Versailles pattern is historically and aesthetically correct. The engineered panel format makes authentic Versailles pattern installation practical without the cost and installation complexity of traditional solid wood Versailles parquet.
Luxury Hospitality — Hotel Lobbies
Exceptional
Versailles parquet in AB select natural oak UV lacquer is a standard specification for five-star hotel lobbies, grand ballrooms, and luxury resort public areas. The UV lacquer durability supports commercial foot traffic; the pattern and colour deliver the required level of architectural authority.
Dining Rooms
Excellent
A Versailles parquet dining room floor creates a formal, architecturally complete dining environment appropriate for significant residential dining rooms and private dining rooms in hospitality contexts. Minimum recommended room size: 20 m².
Libraries & Studies
Excellent
The classical French heritage of the Versailles pattern is at home in a panelled library or study. The warm honey-oak colour is compatible with dark timber joinery, leather upholstery, and the traditional study palette.
Smaller Rooms / Apartments
Not Recommended
The 800×800mm panel scale requires rooms of significant size to read correctly. In rooms smaller than 20 m², the Versailles compartments may not complete fully, the pattern may appear truncated, and the geometric impact will be lost. For smaller rooms requiring a parquet statement, specify chevron (AM-40) or herringbone instead.
Bathrooms
Not Recommended
Not suitable for wet environments.
Care & Maintenance — Versailles Parquet UV Lacquer
Task
Method
Daily
Dry sweep or vacuum with soft brush head. For Versailles parquet, sweep in both directions (parallel to the panel grid axes) to avoid pushing debris into the multiple internal joint directions of the pattern. The Versailles pattern has more joint length per square metre than any other parquet format — regular sweeping is the most important maintenance step for keeping the pattern looking sharp.
Weekly
Damp mop with well-wrung cloth and pH-neutral hardwood floor cleaner. UV lacquer is fully sealed — the brushed oak surface and natural colour are protected. No steam mop, no standing water, no excessive water near panel joints.
Spills
Wipe immediately with a dry cloth. The Versailles pattern's multiple internal joints create more opportunities for liquid penetration than long plank — prompt spill response is more important for Versailles than for any plank format. UV lacquer provides effective surface resistance when spills are addressed promptly.
Joint care
The Versailles pattern contains a high density of internal joints in multiple directions. Vacuum with soft brush attachment along joint lines periodically to remove accumulated fine debris and maintain the pattern's geometric sharpness. Do not force water or cleaning products into panel joints.
Periodic maintenance
UV lacquer requires no periodic re-oiling. Buff with manufacturer-approved hardwood floor polish every 6–12 months to restore surface sheen and protection across the full Versailles panel surface.
Scratches & damage
Minor surface scratches: manufacturer-matched lacquer repair pen matched to the natural honey-oak colour of Versailles Parquet-01. Individual stave damage within a panel is difficult to repair on-site without specialist parquet restoration; for significant damage, professional parquet restoration is recommended. The 4mm wear layer provides capacity for professional sanding and lacquer recoating if required.
Never
Steam mop · standing water · abrasive scrubbers · bleach or acid cleaners · oil or wax products on lacquered surface · silicone-based polishes · dragging heavy furniture across the pattern joints.

FAQ
Q1. What is engineered Versailles parquet flooring?
Engineered Versailles parquet flooring (Versailles Parquet-01) consists of 800×800mm factory pre-assembled panels of European oak in the classic Versailles pattern — a 17th-century French court parquet design originally installed in the Palace of Versailles. Each panel combines three geometric elements: a central basket-weave field of short staves in alternating horizontal and vertical groups, diagonal border bands at 45°, and a perimeter frame of parallel strips. The panels are 15/4mm multi-layer engineered construction with a 4mm solid European oak wear layer, AB select grade, brushed surface treatment, UV lacquer finish, and T&G tongue-and-groove profile for glue-down installation.
Q2. How is factory-assembled Versailles parquet different from traditional solid wood Versailles?
Traditional solid wood Versailles parquet is assembled from individual solid oak staves cut and fitted on site by specialist parquet craftsmen — a highly skilled, time-consuming process requiring weeks of installation and significant material waste. Factory pre-assembled engineered Versailles panels compress this complexity into a controlled manufacturing process: each 800×800mm panel arrives at site as a complete, precision-assembled unit ready for glue-down installation. The multi-layer engineered construction also provides superior dimensional stability compared to solid wood Versailles panels — the engineered core resists the seasonal movement that can cause gapping and buckling in large-format solid wood parquet.
Q3. What room size is needed for Versailles parquet?
Versailles Parquet-01's 800×800mm panel scale requires rooms of significant size to read correctly. The minimum recommended room size is approximately 20 m², with the ideal being 30 m² or larger. In the correct room scale, the Versailles pattern creates a magnificent room-defining floor where the geometric compartments repeat fully and the pattern's visual authority is completely expressed. In rooms smaller than 20 m², the 800mm panel may not complete the full pattern geometry within the room boundaries, and the pattern's impact will be reduced or lost. For smaller rooms requiring a geometric parquet statement, specify chevron (AM-40) or herringbone instead.
Q4.  Does Versailles parquet need to be glued down?
Yes — Versailles Parquet-01 T&G panels are installed by full glue-down to the subfloor (or nail-down to a timber subfloor). Floating installation is not recommended for Versailles panel format: the 800×800mm panel size, the complexity of the internal pattern geometry, and the multiple T&G joints between panels all require the rigidity and stability of a glued installation. Use a flexible polyurethane or MS polymer adhesive applied by full-spread trowel method. For underfloor heating installations, use a flexible adhesive specified as compatible with UFH.
Q5. Can Versailles parquet be used with underfloor heating?
Yes — Versailles Parquet-01 is compatible with both hydronic and electric underfloor heating with glue-down installation. The multi-layer engineered construction provides good dimensional stability under UFH thermal cycling. Use a flexible polyurethane adhesive compatible with UFH. Maximum surface temperature 27°C. Maintain indoor humidity at 45–60% RH year-round. Switch off heating 48 hours before installation; restart gradually at 1–2°C per day. UV lacquer is stable under UFH heating cycles.
Q6. How should Versailles parquet be maintained?
UV lacquer Versailles parquet requires daily dry sweeping in multiple directions (following the panel grid axes and the diagonal elements of the Versailles pattern), weekly damp mopping with pH-neutral hardwood floor cleaner, and periodic buffing with manufacturer-approved hardwood floor polish every 6–12 months. No periodic re-oiling is required. The Versailles pattern's multiple internal joints require more attentive sweeping than plank formats — debris accumulates in the pattern joints and should be removed regularly with a soft brush vacuum attachment. Wipe spills immediately; the pattern's joint density makes prompt spill response particularly important.
Q7. What is the minimum order for Versailles Parquet-01?
Standard MOQ is 200 m² per SKU from our China factory. Free samples available — email arboren@arboren.com (sample will include one complete 800×800mm panel or a quarter-panel section showing the full Versailles pattern geometry). Samples dispatched within 4-5 business days (Versailles panels require additional handling). OEM orders available from 200 m² MOQ.
