AM-02 Natural Light Oak Engineered Flooring — EF Select Grade, 190mm
AM-02 is a 190mm wide long plank engineered oak floor in EF select grade with a brushed surface and natural oil finish — the same warm amber tone and open-wood feel as AM-01 Natural Oak, refined to a cleaner, more uniform appearance by the higher EF grade specification, which limits the presence of knots and sapwood while retaining the authentic character of natural oiled oak.

Natural Oak Character, Amplified — AM-02 EF Natural Character Grade
AM-02 is a 190mm wide long plank engineered oak floor in EF grade with a brushed surface and natural oil finish — the natural warmth and honest wood character of European oak, taken further into bold, unrestrained natural character by the EF grade specification, which permits unlimited knots, freely occurring dark grain lines, and broader sapwood presence than AM-01's ABCD grade, while preserving every quality of the natural oil and brushed surface finish.
The distinction between AM-02 and AM-01 is one of visual register, not of quality or material. Both products are 14/3mm, 190mm wide, brushed, and naturally oiled from the same European oak species and the same Chinese production facility. The difference is entirely in the grading: AM-01 ABCD selects boards within a bounded character range — knots and dark lines permitted within defined limits, sapwood capped at 20% of board width. AM-02 EF removes those limits: knots are unrestricted in size and number, dark grain lines run freely, sapwood may reach up to 30% of board width, and mild natural blue-stain or rot marking is accepted as part of the floor's authentic character. The installed result is a floor that reads as genuinely wild and individual — bolder and more characterful than AM-01, not calmer.
EF grade makes AM-02 the natural choice when a natural oil finish is specified and the interior design context calls for maximum natural expression — a floor that reads as raw, individual, and full of character rather than as a quiet backdrop. It is particularly effective in rustic, farmhouse, and organic-modern interiors, in projects where the floor itself is intended to carry visual weight, and where no two boards should read alike.
The brushed surface treatment is identical to AM-01: wire-brushed to remove soft early-wood fibres, leaving the late-wood grain fractionally raised. The tactile texture is subtle and directional, felt underfoot and visible in raking light, but it does not dominate the visual appearance of the floor. The natural oil finish penetrates the wood fibre completely, feeding the grain and preserving the natural amber tone of the oak without the sheen or barrier of a lacquer surface. The floor is matte, warm, and tactile — and, like all naturally oiled floors, it develops a richer patina over time as the oil is renewed and the wood responds to use.

For AM-02, natural oil is the finish of choice when authenticity and spot-repairability matter more than maximum scratch resistance. An oiled floor can have worn or marked areas refreshed locally with 240-grit abrasion and a coat of oil, without sanding the entire floor. A lacquered floor is more resistant to scratches, but surface damage typically requires full sanding to repair well.

Natural oil finish handles UFH thermal cycling better than lacquer, as it does not risk surface cracking under heat stress.
