The Scandinavian White Oak Floor
AM-03 is a white oil finished engineered oak floor featuring a 190mm wide long plank in EF natural character grade with a brushed surface and click installation structure. The white oil treatment softens the natural amber tone of European oak into a pale cream-beige Scandinavian colour, while the EF grade allows the floor's natural knots, grain movement, and sapwood to show through freely — a floor that is visually pale and cool in tone, but genuinely rustic in surface character. Unlike paint or surface coating, white oil penetrates into the wood fibre, preserving the authentic texture of real oak while giving the floor a cooler and lighter visual tone.
The EF grade specification permits unrestricted knots, freely occurring dark grain lines, and sapwood up to 30% of board width, producing a floor with genuine natural variation and character beneath its pale white-oiled surface. Combined with the brushed treatment, which removes softer wood fibres and highlights the natural grain texture, the floor gains additional depth and dimensionality under changing light. The final result is an engineered oak floor that pairs a calm, pale colour palette with an authentically rustic, unrestrained grain character — natural rather than uniform.
Design Guide
AM-03's pale, cool white oil tone and unrestrained EF natural character combine two qualities rarely found together — a Scandinavian-pale palette with genuinely wild, weathered grain. Two interior combinations where this pairing is the decisive design choice:

Nordic Farmhouse
Where classic Scandinavian interiors pair pale tones with total visual calm, a Nordic farmhouse aesthetic pairs the same pale, cool palette with genuine natural texture — whitewashed timber beams, worn linen, aged pale oak furniture. AM-03's pale white-oiled surface and unrestricted EF grain character are the flooring equivalent: cool in colour, wild in grain. Against white-limed walls and pale worn textiles, the floor's natural character becomes the room's primary textural interest rather than something to be minimised.

Weathered Coastal
The pale, cool tone of AM-03 combined with its unrestricted knots and freely running grain evokes genuine driftwood and reclaimed coastal timber — not a smooth, uniform beach-house floor, but one that looks like it has weathered real salt air and sun for decades. Against sandy neutrals, rope and rattan, sea-worn timber furniture, and linen textiles, AM-03 contributes a floor that feels found and authentic rather than manufactured.
Installation & Room Suitability
Click Installation (Floating)
AM-03 uses a Uniclic-compatible click floating system — boards lock without adhesive over an underlay. Suitable over concrete screed, existing tiles, existing vinyl, and timber subfloors.
•No adhesive required — clean installation, removable if necessary
•Subfloor flatness: ≤3mm per 2m — level before installation
•Expansion gap at all walls and fixed objects: minimum 10mm
•48-hour acclimatisation at room temperature before installation
•Pre-fitted foam or combination underlay recommended
Install in the direction of natural light where possible
Note: pale floors show dust and footprints more readily -- consider floor finish for high-traffic entry areas
Underfloor Heating
AM-03 is compatible with both hydronic and electric UFH systems. The 3-layer engineered construction resists the dimensional movement that solid wood experiences under heating cycles.
✓Maximum surface temperature: 27°C (hydronic and electric)
✓Switch off heating 24 hours before installation
✓After installation: increase 1–2°C per day to operating temperature
✓Maintain indoor humidity 40–65% RH year-round
✓White oil finish handles UFH cycles better than lacquer — no cracking risk
Thermal resistance ≤ 0.15 m²·K/W — within engineered floor specification
Room Suitability
| Room / Application | Suitability | Notes |
| Living Rooms & Open Plan | Excellent | Pale white oak tone maximises perceived space and light in living areas. Particularly effective with high ceilings or limited natural light. |
| Bedrooms | Excellent | Pale cool tone creates a serene, calm bedroom environment. Works with both monochrome and warm textile palettes. |
| Home Offices | Excellent | White oil creates a focused, clean environment. EF grade provides a visually quiet backdrop for work and display. |
Hallways | Very Good | Re-oil annually in high-traffic hallways. Note: pale surface shows footprints and dust more readily -- sweep frequently. |
Kitchens | Good | Seal all board joints at installation. Wipe spills immediately -- white oil can absorb pigmented spills. Re-oil annually. |
Children's Rooms & Nurseries | Excellent | Pale, calming tone; non-toxic white oil finish; warm underfoot with underlay; real wood surface. |
Basements | Good | Engineered construction handles below-grade humidity. Use DPC membrane over concrete. |
Bathrooms / Wet Rooms | Not Recommended | Not suitable for persistent moisture -- specify SPC for wet rooms. |
Care & Maintenance -- White Oil Finish
| Task | Method |
| Daily | Dry sweep or vacuum with soft brush head — no beater bar; brush direction of grain |
| Weekly | Damp mop with well-wrung cloth and pH-neutral wood floor cleaner — no standing water on oiled surface |
| Spills | Wipe immediately — White oil is not waterproof; standing spills risk staining the open wood fibre |
Spot repair | Lightly abrade worn area (240 grit along grain) and re-oil locally — no need to sand the entire floor |
Full re-oil | Every 1–3 years depending on traffic — use AMUER Floor Care Oil or compatible penetrating oil |
Never | Steam mop · abrasive cleaners · bleach · solvent-based products · excessive water |

FAQ
Q1. What is white oak engineered hardwood flooring?
AMUER AM-03 is 14/3mm total thickness, 3mm solid European oak wear layer over a cross-ply core, EF grade (unrestricted knots, dark lines, and sapwood up to 30% of board width), brushed surface, white oil finish, 190mm × 1,900mm long plank format, click installation. It pairs the pale Scandinavian colour palette with genuine, unrestrained natural oak character.
Q2. What is white oil finish on oak flooring?
White oil finish is a penetrating wood oil with white pigment added -- it soaks into the oak fibre rather than forming a surface coating, lightening and cooling the tone of the wood from within while preserving the matte, tactile, open-wood feel and the spot-repairability of a conventional penetrating oil finish.
White oil is not a paint, not a bleach, and not a lacquer. The white pigment sits in the outer wood fibres, reflecting light as a pale, cool tone. The grain structure of the oak remains fully visible beneath the white-oil surface. Maintenance follows the same cycle as natural oil -- periodic re-oiling every 1-3 years -- but uses white-pigmented maintenance oil to preserve the pale tone.
Q3. How does AM-03 white oil compare to AM-02 natural oil?
AM-03 White Oil and AM-02 Natural Light Oak share the same 190mm format, EF grade, brushed surface, and 14/3mm construction -- the only difference is the finish: AM-03 uses white oil that lightens the oak to a cool pale cream-beige, while AM-02 uses natural oil that preserves the warm amber-honey tone of the oak.
Choose AM-03 when the design intent is a pale, cool, Scandinavian-toned floor. Choose AM-02 when a natural warm amber tone is preferred. Both are matte, open-wood finish floors with the same maintenance requirements -- except that AM-03 must be re-oiled with white maintenance oil specifically, not natural oil.
Q4. Is white oil the same as whitewash or bleaching?
No -- white oil finish is not whitewash, bleach, or paint. It is a penetrating oil with white pigment that soaks into the wood fibre, lightening the tone from within while leaving the grain structure intact and the surface open and tactile.
Whitewash and bleach chemically alter or strip the colour from the wood fibre, often removing grain contrast entirely. White paint covers the wood completely. White oil simply adds a small amount of white pigment to a conventional oil treatment -- the wood is still genuinely wood underfoot and to the touch, and it can be sanded and refinished in the same way as a naturally oiled floor.
Q5. Can AM-03 be used over underfloor heating?
Yes -- AM-03 engineered hardwood flooring is compatible with both hydronic and electric underfloor heating systems with a maximum recommended surface temperature of 27°C.
The 3-layer engineered construction resists the dimensional movement solid wood experiences under heating cycles. Switch off UFH 24 hours before installation; restart gradually after installation, increasing by 1-2 °C per day. White oil handles UFH thermal cycling without cracking risk. Maintain indoor humidity at 40-65% RH year-round.
Q6. Will white oil fade or change colour over time?
White oil finish is very stable over time -- the pale tone changes very slowly and only slightly, developing a very subtle warmth over years of re-oiling and use; it does not yellow, does not fade to grey, and does not revert to the natural amber of untreated oak under normal conditions.
The key to maintaining the AM-03 tone over time is using white-pigmented maintenance oil for all re-oiling cycles. If standard natural oil is applied, the white pigment in the surface fibres will be progressively displaced and the floor will gradually warm toward an amber natural-oil appearance. Always specify white maintenance oil for AM-03.
Q7. Can AM-03 be sanded and refinished?
Yes -- AM-03 has a 3mm solid oak wear layer supporting 2-3 full sanding and refinishing cycles. After sanding, AM-03 can be re-oiled with white oil to restore the pale tone, or finished with natural oil if a warmer tone is preferred.
White oil also supports spot repair between full sanding cycles: abrade worn areas lightly (240 grit along the grain) and re-apply white maintenance oil locally. For most well-maintained residential applications, AM-03 should not require full sanding for 15-25 years.
Q8. What is the minimum order for AM-03?
The standard minimum order for AMUER AM-03 is 200 m2 per SKU from our China factory.
