Natural Oak Wide Plank Engineered Flooring -- AM-14
Deeply Brushed Natural Oak Wide Plank Engineered Flooring -- AM-09
AM-09 is a 220mm wide plank engineered oak floor in EF select grade with a deeply wire-brushed surface and wax oil finish -- 15/4mm three-layer construction with a 4mm solid oak wear layer -- producing the most dramatically open-grain texture in the AMUER brushed range: heavy wire brushing removes the soft early-wood fibres deeply and completely, leaving the harder late-wood grain as pronounced raised ridges with wide, clean channels between them, finished with wax oil that preserves every detail of the open surface.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW · AM-09 DEEPLY BRUSHED NATURAL OAK 220MM
AM-09 is a 220mm wide plank engineered oak floor in EF select grade with a deeply wire-brushed surface and wax oil finish -- the most texturally dramatic brushed surface in the AMUER natural oak range, produced by heavy wire brushing that removes the soft early-wood fibres completely and deeply, leaving the harder late-wood grain as pronounced raised ridges with wide, clean channels between them -- a surface where the three-dimensional structure of the oak's growth rings is fully legible as relief, finished with wax oil that preserves every channel and ridge in its full open depth.

Standard wire brushing -- used on AM-01 through AM-05 -- removes the surface layer of soft early-wood fibres, leaving the late-wood grain fractionally raised and the surface with a subtle directional texture. AM-09 goes significantly further. The heavy brushing used on AM-09 removes the early-wood fibres to a much greater depth, exposing the hard structural late-wood as pronounced ridges that stand clearly above the early-wood channel floors. The result is a surface where the individual growth rings of the tree are fully legible as a three-dimensional landscape: ridges that catch light and cast shadows; channels that collect them. At raking light -- morning or evening sun at a low angle across the floor -- the surface reads as a field of fine parallel relief, each ridge and channel casting its own shadow line.

EF grade was chosen deliberately for AM-09. At EF select, boards have minimal knots, consistent tight grain, and low inter-board colour variation. In the context of the deeply brushed surface, this grade decision is a design choice: the dramatic texture of the deep brushing is the primary visual element of AM-09, and EF grade ensures that the surface reads as texture and grain relief rather than as character features (knots, sapwood) competing with the brushed topography for visual attention. The grain is the surface; everything else recedes.

Wax oil finish is the only appropriate finish for a deeply brushed surface at this depth. A UV lacquer coat over the deep early-wood channels would fill the valleys partially, reducing the shadow depth and three-dimensional relief that the heavy brushing creates. Wax oil penetrates the wood fibre from the surface, leaving every channel and ridge completely open and unobstructed. The oil deepens the natural sandy-gold tone of the oak, makes the dark mineral streaks that run along the grain more vivid, and produces a surface that is matte, warm, and tactile at every scale.
Design Guide
AM-09's dramatic deep-brushed grain relief and sandy-gold wax oil tone make it one of the most distinctive natural oak finishes available. Two contexts where its specific qualities are most valued:
Organic Raw Interior AM-09
Organic Raw Interior
In interiors that celebrate raw, imperfect, natural materials -- wabi-sabi, organic modernism, natural material luxury -- AM-09 is the floor that belongs. The deep grain relief is as visually complex and naturally imperfect as polished concrete, aged clay tile, or textured plaster. Against these materials, AM-09 reads as equally honest: a natural material showing its structure without modification.
Warm Nordic AM-09
Warm Nordic
AM-09's sandy-gold EF grain, when seen against a white or pale wall, reads as light and warm without being amber-heavy. The deep brushed texture provides the visual interest and material quality of a characterful floor without the colour drama of character-grade or smoked products. In a Scandinavian or Nordic interior, the deeply brushed surface adds warmth and depth to a palette that might otherwise risk reading as too pale.
Installation & Room Suitability
Click Installation (Floating)
AM-09 uses Uniclic-compatible click floating installation. At 220mm wide plank, careful subfloor preparation ensures an even, stable floor that shows the deep-brush texture to best advantage.

•No adhesive required -- click lock floating installation
•Subfloor flatness: 3mm per 2m maximum
•Expansion gap at all walls: minimum 12mm
•48-hour acclimatisation at room temperature before installation
•Install perpendicular to main light source for maximum texture drama at raking light
•Stagger end joints: minimum 300mm between rows
Foam or combination underlay suitable for wax oil floors
Underfloor Heating
AM-09 is compatible with both hydronic and electric UFH. Wax oil handles UFH thermal cycling well -- it does not crack under heat stress as lacquer can. The deeply open grain surface absorbs oil particularly well after UFH re-oiling.

✓Maximum surface temperature: 27 degrees C
✓Switch off heating 24 hours before installation
✓Restart gradually: 1-2 degrees C per day to operating temperature
✓Maintain indoor humidity 40-65% RH year-round
✓Wax oil on deeply brushed surface handles UFH cycles without cracking
Thermal resistance 0.15 m2 K/W maximum

Notes
Living Rooms & Open Plan
Excellent
The dramatic deep-brushed texture is most visible across a large floor area and in natural light. Particularly effective in rooms with morning or evening raking light.
Dining Rooms
Excellent
At eye level from a seated position, the deep grain channels and raised ridges are fully visible. The mineral streaks read as fine details at close range.
Farmhouse & Rural
Excellent
AM-09 is the natural specification for farmhouse kitchens, rural properties, and interiors that embrace raw, weathered materials. The deep-brushed sandy-gold is the colour of old pine and oak in historic buildings.
Hallways
Very Good
The deeply brushed texture conceals traffic marks and scuffs very effectively -- more forgiving than smooth floors. Re-oil annually.
Bedrooms
Very Good
The tactile depth of the deeply brushed surface is appreciated underfoot in a bedroom. Sandy-gold tone creates a warm, restful environment.
Home Offices & Studios
Very Good
Warm, organic working environment. Chair mat recommended under desk chairs.
Kitchen
Good
Wax oil less water-resistant than lacquer. Seal all board joints. Wipe spills immediately. The open grain channels are more absorbent than a sealed surface.
Heritage Commercial
Very Good
For farmhouse restaurants, rural hospitality, and heritage retail where an authentic raw material quality is the design intent.
Bathrooms
Not Recommended
Not suitable for persistent moisture
Care & Maintenance -- Wax Oil on Deeply Brushed Surface Task Method
Task
Method
Daily
Vacuum with soft brush head or dry sweep -- the deep channels collect fine dust more readily than shallow-brush or smooth floors; vacuum along the grain direction for best results
Weekly
Damp mop with well-wrung cloth and pH-neutral wood floor cleaner for oiled floors -- no standing water; wax oil is not waterproof; the open grain channels are absorbent
Spills
Wipe immediately -- the deep early-wood channels and mineral streak zones can absorb liquids rapidly; prompt wiping prevents staining
Spot repair
Lightly abrade the worn or marked area with 240-grit paper along the grain and re-apply wax oil -- the deep channel texture makes local repairs blend seamlessly
Full re-oil
Every 1-3 years -- AMUER Floor Care Wax Oil or compatible hardwax oil; the deeply open grain absorbs oil particularly well and the re-oiling process is especially effective on this surface; oil penetrates the full channel depth
Never
Steam mop · abrasive cleaners · bleach · solvent-based products · UV lacquer products · re-lacquering over wax oil

FAQ
Q1. What is deeply brushed oak wide plank engineered flooring?
Deeply brushed oak wide plank engineered flooring is an engineered hardwood floor with a solid European oak wear layer processed by heavy wire brushing that removes the soft early-wood fibres to a significant depth, leaving the harder late-wood grain as pronounced raised ridges with wide, clean channels between them -- a surface where the three-dimensional structure of the oak's growth rings is fully legible as relief.
AMUER AM-09 is 220mm wide, 2,200mm long, 15/4mm total thickness with a 4mm solid oak wear layer, EF select grade, deeply brushed surface, wax oil finish, and click installation. It produces the most texturally dramatic brushed surface in the AMUER natural oak range -- significantly more pronounced than standard brushing.
Q2. What is the difference between deeply brushed and standard brushed oak flooring?
Standard brushed oak flooring removes the surface layer of soft early-wood fibres lightly, leaving the late-wood grain fractionally raised as a subtle directional texture; deeply brushed oak flooring removes the early-wood fibres to a much greater depth, leaving the hard late-wood grain as pronounced ridges with wide, deep, clean channels that cast strong shadow lines at raking light.
In practical terms: standard brushed (AM-01 to AM-05) produces a surface texture that is felt as a gentle grain direction and seen as a natural surface quality. Deeply brushed (AM-09) produces a surface where the individual growth rings of the tree are fully legible as three-dimensional relief -- a dramatic, structural texture visible from across the room and deeply tactile underfoot. AM-09 requires wax oil finish to preserve the full channel depth; UV lacquer would partially fill the channels.
Q3. What are the dark lines running along the grain in AM-09?
The dark grey-blue lines running along the grain in AM-09 are mineral streaks -- concentrations of mineral deposits that formed in the oak's water-conducting vessel cells as the tree grew, made visible by the deep brushing process that opens the vessel cells along the channel floors.
Mineral streaks are a natural feature of slow-grown, dense oak timber. In AM-09, they are made particularly vivid by the deep brushing, which exposes the vessel cells where minerals concentrate, and by the wax oil finish, which darkens the mineral zones against the sandy-gold ground. They are permanent, stable, and part of the natural character of the floor. Their presence indicates high-density, slow-grown timber.
Q4. Why is wax oil used on AM-09 rather than UV lacquer?
The deeply brushed texture of AM-09 is the product's defining characteristic. Applying UV lacquer over it would preserve the surface but diminish the very quality that distinguishes AM-09 from all other 220mm wide plank products in the AMUER range. Wax oil on deeply brushed is the combination that fully honours the process: the oil deepens the sandy-gold tone, makes the mineral streaks more vivid, and fills the grain channels from within while leaving them completely tactile.
Q5. Can AM-09 be used over underfloor heating?
Yes -- AM-09 is compatible with both hydronic and electric underfloor heating, maximum surface temperature 27 degrees C.
Wax oil handles UFH thermal cycling well and does not crack under heat stress. The deeply open grain surface absorbs wax oil particularly well during periodic re-oiling -- the oil penetrates the full channel depth, making AM-09 an effective wax oil floor even under UFH conditions. Maintain indoor humidity at 40-65% RH year-round.
Q6.  How do I maintain the wax oil finish on AM-09?
The deep grain channels and mineral streak zones are more absorbent than a smooth or lightly brushed surface -- prompt spill wiping is especially important. Spot repair is straightforward and particularly natural on AM-09: abrade the worn area with 240-grit paper along the grain and re-apply wax oil locally. The deep texture variation means local repairs blend seamlessly. Full re-oiling is particularly effective on deeply brushed surfaces as the oil penetrates the full channel depth.
Q7.Can AM-09 be sanded and refinished?
Yes -- AM-09 has a 4mm solid oak wear layer supporting 3-4 full sanding and refinishing cycles over the floor's lifespan.
After sanding, AM-09 can be re-brushed at the deep intensity to restore the pronounced channel texture, and re-finished with wax oil to restore the full specification. The re-brushing step requires the correct wire-brush calibration -- this should be discussed with the refinishing specialist before work starts. Each sanding removes approximately 1mm of wear layer.
Q8. What is the minimum order for AM-09?
The standard minimum order for AMUER AM-09 is 200 m2 per SKU from our China factory.
