Embossed American Walnut 190mm Wide Plank Wax Oil Engineered Flooring — AW-07
Embossed American Walnut 190mm Wide Plank Wax Oil Engineered Flooring — AW-07
AW-07 is a 190mm wide plank American walnut engineered floor in CD natural character grade with a tactile embossed surface and penetrating wax oil finish: 15/4mm construction with a 4mm solid American walnut wear layer, click floating installation. The combination of embossed surface texture and wax oil penetrating finish produces an antique, hand-crafted character that distinguishes AW-07 from smooth-surface lacquered walnut floors — the embossing replicates the natural wood-grain relief of aged, character-grade walnut, and the wax oil deepens the natural colour while leaving the surface open and tactile to the touch.
The 190mm wide plank format maximises the visual impact of the CD grade walnut: wider boards mean more grain movement, more heartwood-to-sapwood colour variation, and more knot and figure character visible in each board. AW-07 is a floor built for spaces where natural material drama and antique warmth take precedence over tonal consistency — a genuinely characterful American walnut floor with wax oil depth and embossed texture that no smooth lacquered finish can replicate.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW · AW-07 EMBOSSED WALNUT WIDE PLANK
AW-07 is built around three compounding design decisions that produce a fundamentally different floor from the smooth lacquered walnut of AW-01 and AW-02: a 190mm wide plank format that maximises board character, a CD grade that selects for the full natural drama of American walnut, and a combination of embossed surface texture and penetrating wax oil finish that adds tactile depth and antique warmth to the natural walnut surface.
The 190mm wide plank is the visual foundation of AW-07: boards are wide enough to show the full sweep of walnut grain movement, the contrast between dark espresso heartwood and pale honey-tan sapwood, and the knots and figure of the CD grade at a scale that 90mm boards cannot achieve. Each 190mm board is a distinct visual element — an individual panel of character-grade American walnut rather than a narrow strip. The floor reads as bold, materially generous, and naturally dramatic.
The CD grade amplifies this character: where AB grade (AW-02) selects toward consistent heartwood, and ABC grade (AW-01) shows the full colour range without open defects, CD grade accepts knots (filled and small open), pronounced grain movement, figure, and the full heartwood-to-sapwood colour spectrum. The result is the most visually characterful American walnut floor in the AMUER range — no two boards identical, every board unmistakably walnut.
The embossed surface texture and wax oil finish complete the character: the embossing creates a tactile, hand-crafted surface relief that breaks flat light reflection and adds the visual depth of aged wood, while the wax oil penetrates the walnut surface to enrich and deepen the natural colour without forming a hard surface coat. The result is a warm, matte, touchable floor with the natural wood-grain depth of an aged walnut surface.
Design Guide
AW-07's 190mm wide plank, CD character grade, embossed texture, and wax oil warmth place it firmly in traditional, heritage, and rustic-warm interior contexts:
Farmhouse & Country Traditional AW-07
Farmhouse & Country Traditional
AW-07 is the natural floor for farmhouse and country traditional interiors: stone-flagged walls, exposed timber beams, open fireplaces, terracotta and linen textiles, and traditional painted joinery. The CD grade knots and grain, 190mm wide plank scale, and wax oil warmth belong in rooms that prize natural material character above all else.
Period Property & Heritage Renovation AW-07
Period Property & Heritage Renovation
For period property renovation — Georgian, Victorian, Arts & Crafts, inter-war — AW-07's embossed texture and wax oil depth produce a floor that reads as genuinely aged and appropriate in historic rooms. The 190mm wide plank scale is contextually correct for the larger rooms of period properties; the CD grade character adds the authenticity of age.
Installation & Room Suitability
Click Installation (Floating)
AW-07 uses Uniclic-compatible click floating installation. Wide plank (190mm) requires a larger expansion gap than 90mm boards to allow for the greater dimensional movement potential of wider boards.

· Subfloor flatness: 3mm per 2m maximum — more critical for wide planks
· Expansion gap: minimum 12mm at all walls and fixed objects
· Acclimatise 48–72 hours at room temperature (extended for wide plank)
· Stagger end joints: minimum 400mm between adjacent rows (wider plank, longer stagger)
· Install with grain direction along longest room dimension
· Do not fill or caulk square edge joints
· Maintain indoor humidity 45–60% RH year-round — more important for wide plank wax oil
Underfloor Heating
AW-07 is compatible with underfloor heating. The 4mm wear layer and wide plank format require careful humidity management when used with UFH.

· Maximum surface temperature: 27°C
· Switch off heating 48–72 hours before installation
· Restart: increase 1–2°C per day maximum to target temperature
· Maintain indoor humidity 45–60% RH year-round — critical for wax oil wide plank
· Wax oil finish is more moisture-sensitive than UV lacquer — consistent indoor humidity is essential
· Thermal resistance: 0.15 m²K/W maximum

Notes
Traditional & Heritage Living Rooms
Exceptional
AW-07's CD grade character, 190mm wide plank, and wax oil warmth are ideally suited to traditional, farmhouse, and heritage residential living rooms. The floor reads as antique and naturally aged — a material that belongs in a room with exposed beams, stone fireplaces, and traditional joinery.
Farmhouse & Country Kitchens
Excellent
Wax oil and embossed texture are well-suited to country kitchen environments — the rustic character is appropriate and the wax oil finish is easy to spot-repair. Prompt spill removal essential; maintain with compatible maintenance product.
Dining Rooms
Excellent
Wide plank walnut wax oil creates a warm, materially generous dining room floor. The CD grade knots and grain movement add character that reads well in traditional dining environments.
Bedrooms
Excellent
Warm russet-brown wax oil walnut creates a rich, comfortable bedroom floor. Low maintenance in low-traffic bedroom environment; re-oil cycle extended to 18–24 months.
Period Property Renovation
Exceptional
AW-07 is a first-choice specification for period property renovation where an authentic, aged wood floor character is required. The embossed texture and wax oil depth replicate the appearance of genuinely aged wood flooring.
Hallways
Good with care
Wax oil requires more maintenance in high-traffic hallways; re-oil cycle may shorten to 6–12 months. CD grade character is forgiving of wear marks.
Bathrooms

Not suitable for persistent moisture.
Care & Maintenance — Embossed Wax Oil Walnut Wide Plank
Task
Method
Daily
Dry sweep or vacuum with soft brush head — always sweep along the grain direction, following the embossed grain relief. Wax oil surfaces collect dust more readily than lacquered floors; daily sweeping maintains the appearance and prevents grit from abrading the wax oil surface.
Weekly
Damp mop with well-wrung cloth and a compatible wax oil floor cleaner — do not use standard household cleaners, lacquer-formulated hardwood cleaners, or excessive water. Wax oil is a surface-open finish; it is more moisture-sensitive than UV lacquer. No steam mop, no standing water.
Spills
Wipe immediately with a dry cloth. The wax component of the finish provides short-term water resistance; prompt action is essential for spills on wax oil surfaces. Dried spills may require spot cleaning with a compatible cleaner and spot re-oiling.
Embossed surface
The embossed texture of AW-07 requires vacuum brush attachment along grain lines to remove dust and debris from the relief. A soft-bristle brush is preferred to avoid abrading the wax oil surface. Do not use abrasive scrubbers on embossed wax oil.
Spot re-oiling
Any area showing dryness, loss of colour depth, or white watermarks can be spot re-oiled with a compatible maintenance wax oil product: lightly sand or abrade the spot with fine (180-grit) sandpaper, apply maintenance oil with a cloth, allow to absorb and dry, buff lightly.
Periodic re-oiling
Full floor re-oiling every 12–18 months (residential), 6–12 months (high traffic areas). Clean floor thoroughly, allow to dry fully, apply compatible maintenance wax oil with a cloth or buffing machine, allow to absorb and cure 24 hours before foot traffic.
Scratches
Surface scratches in wax oil are easier to repair than UV lacquer — lightly sand the damaged area with fine-grit sandpaper, apply compatible maintenance oil, allow to cure. Deep scratches: professional sanding and re-oiling of the affected boards.
Never
Steam mop · standing water · UV lacquer maintenance products · standard household cleaners · bleach or acid cleaners · silicone-based polishes · abrasive scrubbers · filling or caulking square edge joints.

FAQ
Q1. What is embossed wax oil American walnut engineered flooring?
Embossed wax oil American walnut engineered flooring (AW-07) is a 190mm wide plank engineered hardwood floor with a solid American walnut wear layer, cross-ply core, an embossed (mechanically pressed wood-grain texture) surface, and a penetrating wax oil finish. The embossing creates a tactile, relief surface that replicates aged, hand-planed wood; the wax oil penetrates the wood fibres to enhance colour depth and provide a warm, matte surface protection. AW-07 is 15/4mm total thickness with a 4mm solid walnut wear layer — the thickest wear layer in the AMUER walnut range — in CD natural character grade with Click floating installation.
Q2. How does wax oil differ from UV lacquer on walnut flooring?
Wax oil (AW-07) penetrates the walnut surface fibres rather than forming a hard film on top. The result is a matte, tactile, naturally warm surface that feels like wood underfoot. UV lacquer (AW-01, AW-02) forms a hard, clear surface coat that provides greater scratch resistance, water resistance, and lower maintenance requirements. Wax oil requires periodic re-oiling every 12–18 months — a maintenance step that UV lacquer does not need. In return, wax oil surfaces are easier to spot-repair, develop a richer patina over time, and have a warmer, more natural appearance and feel than lacquered floors. Specify wax oil (AW-07) for natural depth and antique warmth; specify UV lacquer (AW-01/02) for low-maintenance durability.
Q3. What does CD grade mean in American walnut flooring?
CD grade (also called Natural Character or Rustic grade) is the most characterful grading level in the AMUER walnut range. CD grade accepts filled and small open knots, pronounced and swirling grain movement, significant figure and natural irregularity, and the full heartwood-to-sapwood colour range of American walnut. Every board in CD grade is distinctly individual — no two boards identical. At 190mm wide (AW-07), the CD grade character is displayed at maximum scale, producing a floor of exceptional natural drama. AB grade (AW-02) selects toward consistent heartwood with minimal character variation; ABC grade (AW-01) shows full colour variation without open knots; CD grade (AW-07) embraces the full natural character of the species.
Q4. How often does AW-07 wax oil need to be re-oiled?
The wax oil finish on AW-07 requires re-oiling approximately every 12–18 months in normal residential use, and every 6–12 months in higher-traffic areas (hallways, open-plan living-dining spaces). Re-oiling is a simple DIY process: clean the floor thoroughly, apply a compatible maintenance wax oil product with a cloth or buffing machine, allow to absorb and cure for 24 hours before foot traffic. Areas showing dryness or loss of colour depth can be spot re-oiled between full maintenance cycles. With regular re-oiling, the wax oil finish improves and deepens in character over time.
Q5. Can AW-07 be used over underfloor heating?
Yes — AW-07 is compatible with both hydronic and electric underfloor heating systems. The 4mm wear layer and wide plank format (190mm) require consistent humidity management when used with UFH: maintain indoor humidity at 45–60% RH year-round, and do not exceed 27°C surface temperature. Wax oil finish is more moisture-sensitive than UV lacquer — fluctuating humidity can cause gapping or surface movement in wide plank wax oil floors more readily than in narrow lacquered formats. Switch off heating 48–72 hours before installation.
Q6. Can AW-07 be sanded and refinished?
Yes — AW-07 has a 4mm solid American walnut wear layer, supporting 2–3 full sanding and refinishing cycles over the floor's lifespan. This is a significant advantage over 2mm wear layer products (AW-01, AW-02). After sanding, AW-07 can be refinished in wax oil (original specification), natural oil, UV lacquer, or any compatible hardwood floor finish. Full sanding should be carried out by a professional.
Q7. What is the minimum order for AW-07?
Standard MOQ is 200 m² per SKU from our China factory. Free samples available — email arboren@arboren.com. Samples dispatched within 2–3 business days. OEM orders based on AW-07 specification available from 200 m² MOQ.
