Saw Mark & Chemically Treated Natural Oak Wide Plank — AH-09
Embossed American Walnut 190mm Wide Plank Wax Oil Engineered Flooring — AW-07
AW-07 is a 190mm wide plank American walnut engineered floor in CD natural character grade with a tactile embossed surface and penetrating wax oil finish: 15/4mm construction with a 4mm solid American walnut wear layer, click floating installation. The combination of embossed surface texture and wax oil penetrating finish produces an antique, hand-crafted character that distinguishes AW-07 from smooth-surface lacquered walnut floors — the embossing replicates the natural wood-grain relief of aged, character-grade walnut, and the wax oil deepens the natural colour while leaving the surface open and tactile to the touch.
The 190mm wide plank format maximises the visual impact of the CD grade walnut: wider boards mean more grain movement, more heartwood-to-sapwood colour variation, and more knot and figure character visible in each board. AW-07 is a floor built for spaces where natural material drama and antique warmth take precedence over tonal consistency — a genuinely characterful American walnut floor with wax oil depth and embossed texture that no smooth lacquered finish can replicate.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW · AW-07 EMBOSSED WALNUT WIDE PLANK
AW-07 is built around three compounding design decisions that produce a fundamentally different floor from the smooth lacquered walnut of AW-01 and AW-02: a 190mm wide plank format that maximises board character, a CD grade that selects for the full natural drama of American walnut, and a combination of embossed surface texture and penetrating wax oil finish that adds tactile depth and antique warmth to the natural walnut surface.
The 190mm wide plank is the visual foundation of AW-07: boards are wide enough to show the full sweep of walnut grain movement, the contrast between dark espresso heartwood and pale honey-tan sapwood, and the knots and figure of the CD grade at a scale that 90mm boards cannot achieve. Each 190mm board is a distinct visual element — an individual panel of character-grade American walnut rather than a narrow strip. The floor reads as bold, materially generous, and naturally dramatic.
The CD grade amplifies this character: where AB grade (AW-02) selects toward consistent heartwood, and ABC grade (AW-01) shows the full colour range without open defects, CD grade accepts knots (filled and small open), pronounced grain movement, figure, and the full heartwood-to-sapwood colour spectrum. The result is the most visually characterful American walnut floor in the AMUER range — no two boards identical, every board unmistakably walnut.
The embossed surface texture and wax oil finish complete the character: the embossing creates a tactile, hand-crafted surface relief that breaks flat light reflection and adds the visual depth of aged wood, while the wax oil penetrates the walnut surface to enrich and deepen the natural colour without forming a hard surface coat. The result is a warm, matte, touchable floor with the natural wood-grain depth of an aged walnut surface.
Design Guide
AW-07's 190mm wide plank, CD character grade, embossed texture, and wax oil warmth place it firmly in traditional, heritage, and rustic-warm interior contexts:
Modern-Rustic Interior AH-09
Modern-Rustic Interior
In interiors that combine raw industrial materials with natural warmth — polished concrete, reclaimed timber, natural clay — AH-09's saw mark grain and chemical treatment give the floor a complexity that matches these materials. The linear tooling marks sit alongside raw concrete as an equally honest material showing its making openly.
Warm Amber & Characterful AH-09
Warm Amber & Characterful
AH-09's warm amber DE grain, seen against a white or natural wall, reads as grounded and richly toned without being overly dark. The saw mark texture and chemical treatment provide visual depth and material authenticity without the artificiality of stained products. The treated grain adds warmth and character to a palette that calls for a floor with genuine presence.
Installation & Room Suitability
Click Installation (Floating)
AH-09  uses Uniclic-compatible click floating installation. At 220mm wide plank, careful subfloor preparation ensures an even, stable floor that shows the embossed texture to best advantage.

•No adhesive required — click lock floating installation
•Subfloor flatness: 3mm per 2m maximum
•Expansion gap at all walls: minimum 12mm
•48-hour acclimatisation at room temperature before installation
•Install perpendicular to main light source for maximum embossment drama at raking light
•Stagger end joints: minimum 300mm between rows
Foam or combination underlay suitable for wax oil floors
Underfloor Heating
AH-09 is compatible with both hydronic and electric UFH. Wax oil handles UFH thermal cycling well — it does not crack under heat stress as lacquer can. The embossed open-grain surface absorbs oil particularly well after UFH re-oiling.

•Maximum surface temperature: 27°C
•Switch off heating 24 hours before installation
•Restart gradually: 1–2°C per day to operating temperature
•Maintain indoor humidity 40–65% RH year-round
•Wax oil on embossed surface handles UFH cycles without cracking
•Thermal resistance 0.15 m²K/W maximum

At eye level from a seated position, the saw mark tooling lines and chemical treatment tonal variation are fully visible. Warm and rustic at close range.
Farmhouse & Rural
Excellent
AH-09's saw mark warm-amber wax oil surface references authentic reclaimed timber floors of historical farmhouses. Chemical treatment adds genuine tonal depth that reads as natural ageing.
Hallways
Very Good
The saw mark texture conceals traffic marks and scuffs effectively. Re-oil annually in high-traffic hallways.
Bedrooms
Very Good
The tactile depth of the saw mark surface is appreciated underfoot. Warm amber tone creates a grounded, restful environment.
Home Offices & Studios
Very Good
Warm, characterful working environment with reclaimed-timber aesthetic. Chair mat recommended under desk chairs.

FAQ
Q1. What is saw mark and chemically treated oak wide plank engineered flooring?
Saw mark and chemically treated oak flooring is an engineered hardwood floor with a solid European oak wear layer that retains the irregular tooling marks left by the mill blade during primary timber conversion, combined with chemical treatment that opens the grain and deepens the natural tone. AMUER AH-09 is 220mm wide, 2,200mm long, 15/4mm total thickness with a 4mm solid oak wear layer, DE grade, wax oil finish, and click installation.
Q2. How is saw mark texture different from brushed or embossed surfaces?
Saw mark texture is the retained mark of the mill blade itself — irregular, linear, and unique to each board — rather than a texture created by abrasion (brushing) or mechanical pressing (embossing). It produces the most authentic, reclaimed-timber character of the three processes, since the surface reflects the actual primary conversion of the timber rather than a secondary surface treatment.
Q3. Why is wax oil used on AH-09 rather than UV lacquer?
Wax oil penetrates the wood fibre without forming a surface film, preserving the full depth of the saw mark texture and allowing the chemical treatment's tonal variation and mineral streak character to remain visible and tactile. A UV lacquer film would partially mask both qualities.
Q4. Can AH-09 be sanded, refinished, and used over underfloor heating?
Yes — AH-09 has a 4mm solid oak wear layer supporting 3–4 sanding and refinishing cycles, and is compatible with hydronic and electric underfloor heating up to 27°C surface temperature. Wax oil handles UFH thermal cycling well without cracking. Maintain indoor humidity at 40–65% RH year-round.
