AB Select Brushed Oak Chevron Engineered Flooring 14/3mm UV Lacquer — AM-42
AM-42 is a 90×510mm engineered oak chevron floor in AB select grade with a brushed surface and UV lacquer finish: 14/3mm 3-layer construction with a 3mm solid European oak wear layer, tongue-and-groove (T&G) glue-down or nail-down installation. The chevron pattern — each stave cut at a precise 45° mitre so board ends align to form a continuous V-arrow formation — creates the most architecturally directional of the parquet patterns: a bold, unbroken diagonal arrow that reads across the full room from wall to wall.
AM-42 delivers this geometric statement in the warmest, most classically natural European oak colour in the AMUER chevron range. Where AM-40 presents the same chevron pattern in a cool greige tone, AM-42's warm honey-sand — the natural, golden-warm colour of European oak without tonal modification toward cool or grey — reads as sunnier, more traditional, and more immediately inviting. The AB select grade ensures that this warm colour reads with clean consistency across the assembled chevron: boards are predominantly warm heartwood with minimal sapwood contrast, allowing the geometric V-arrow formation to read with clarity and uniformity across the room. The brushed grain adds a fine tactile texture to the warm surface without competing with the chevron geometry's visual authority.

Full Product Specification
| Specification | AM-42 Detail |
| Product Code | AM-42 |
| Species | Top layer European Oak ; Poplar core and backing layer |
| Construction | 3-Layer Engineered Wood Flooring |
Total Thickness | 14/3mm (14mm total, 3mm wear layer) |
Top Layer | 3mm solid European oak — supports 2–3 light sanding and refinishing cycles |
Board Size | 90mm × 510mm — 90mm wide chevron plank; 510mm long; boards cut at 45° at both ends (left-hand and right-hand mirror boards) |
Pattern | Chevron (Arrow Parquet) — boards cut at 45° at both ends; left-hand and right-hand boards meet at the centre line at a perfect point, forming a continuous uninterrupted V-arrow; the defining distinction from herringbone, where board ends are square and joints are staggered |
Colour | AM-42 Warm Honey-Sand Oak — the natural, warm, golden-cream colour of AB select European oak under brushed surface and UV lacquer; warmer and more golden than standard greige oak; the AB grade delivers this warm honey tone with clean consistency — predominantly warm heartwood with minimal sapwood contrast; the warm honey-sand colour is the most classically natural European oak colour, immediately recognisable as oak and compatible with warm interior palettes from traditional to contemporary; European oak in this natural warm colour will deepen and enrich toward a richer amber-gold with time and light exposure |
Surface Treatment | Brushed — wire or nylon brushes remove the soft early-wood fibres to expose the harder late-wood grain lines in tactile relief; the brushed texture follows the grain direction within each chevron stave; in the warm honey-sand colour, the brushed grain adds fine tonal depth — raised late-wood lines read as slightly deeper amber-gold, recessed early-wood as paler cream — creating subtle visual movement across the warm surface without disrupting the chevron pattern's geometric clarity |
Finish | UV Lacquer — hard, clear factory-applied finish; seals and protects the brushed warm oak surface; scratch and stain resistant; easy daily maintenance; no periodic re-oiling required; the UV lacquer on AM-42 reads as warm and clear on the honey-sand surface — a controlled matte-satin sheen that enhances the natural warmth of the oak colour without adding artificial gloss |
Grading | AB — Select Grade: tight or absent knots; minimal open grain variation; very low sapwood content; consistent warm heartwood colour; AB grade is the appropriate specification for chevron pattern floors where the geometric V-arrow formation is the visual focus — the clean consistency of AB grade allows the chevron geometry to read without character variation competing with the pattern |
Edge Profile | Square Edge — flush stave-to-stave joint within the chevron formation; the continuous diagonal joint of the chevron reads as a clean, precise V-arrow line across the warm honey-sand surface |
Installation | T&G (Tongue-and-Groove) — glue-down (recommended) or nail-down (timber subfloor only); floating installation not recommended for chevron T&G format; full-spread flexible adhesive across entire stave back |

PRODUCT OVERVIEW · AM-42 WARM HONEY OAK CHEVRON
The Classic Warm Oak Chevron — Natural Honey-Sand, AB Select, Brushed UV Lacquer
The warm honey-sand colour is the starting point. European oak's natural colour — the warm, golden-cream tone that has made it the most widely used hardwood flooring species in Europe for centuries — is at its most classically appealing in the AB select grade of AM-42. The AB grade prioritises warm heartwood with minimal sapwood contrast, producing a consistently warm, golden-cream floor surface that reads as immediately natural, inviting, and light-filled. This is the colour of oak at its most universally accessible: warm enough to feel welcoming, pale enough to maximise the sense of space, and natural enough to work with virtually every interior palette from traditional to contemporary.
In the chevron pattern, this warm honey-sand colour creates a different effect from the cool greige of AM-40. Where AM-40's cool greige reads as contemporary, restrained, and design-led, AM-42's warm honey-sand reads as more natural, more traditional, and more immediately warm. The V-arrow formation is just as bold and directional in AM-42 as in AM-40, but the warm colour gives it a softer, more welcoming quality — a chevron floor that feels as comfortable in a farmhouse kitchen as in a Parisian apartment or a design-led contemporary living room.
The brushed surface adds the fine grain texture that prevents the AB select warm surface from reading as flat or featureless, and the UV lacquer provides the practical durability — no periodic re-oiling, easy daily maintenance — that makes AM-42 a floor as practical as it is beautiful.
Design Guide
AM-42's warm honey-sand AB select colour, bold chevron geometry, and UV lacquer practicality make it one of the most versatile pattern floor specifications in the AMUER range — compatible with the full spectrum of warm and natural interior directions:
Warm Scandinavian & Japandi
AM-42's warm honey-sand is the defining Scandi and warm Japandi floor colour: light enough to maximise perceived space, warm enough to feel natural and inviting, and clean enough (AB select) to let the geometric chevron pattern read with clarity. In Scandi and Japandi interiors with pale walls, natural linen, and pale oak furniture, AM-42 adds the natural wood warmth and geometric interest that the aesthetic requires.
Farmhouse & Country Contemporary
The warm honey-sand of AM-42 is entirely at home in farmhouse and country contemporary interiors. The chevron pattern elevates the floor beyond standard plank, adding a geometric sophistication that distinguishes contemporary farmhouse from purely traditional. The AB select clean grade reads as intentional and refined within the natural warm palette of cream, stone, and linen.
Contemporary Warm & Family Modern
For contemporary warm and family-modern interiors — open-plan kitchen-dining-living, new-build contemporary, family homes — AM-42's warm honey chevron is the most commercially versatile specification: UV lacquer practicality for family use, warm natural colour that works with any furniture palette, and chevron geometry that adds architectural interest to new-build spaces that might otherwise feel featureless.
Installation — Warm Oak Chevron T&G Laying Guide
Glue-Down Installation (Recommended)
Full glue-down is the standard method for T&G chevron. The adhesive provides the rigid, stable base required for precision 45° chevron alignment.
· Subfloor: concrete screed, anhydrite, or timber — dry, flat, structurally sound
· Flatness: 3mm per 2m maximum — any undulation disrupts the continuous chevron diagonal joint
· Adhesive: flexible polyurethane or MS polymer; full-spread trowel application across entire stave back
· Apex point: establish the chevron apex (V-point) at the room centre or focal wall; snap chalk lines at 45° before laying first staves
· Left / right hand staves: confirm L/R mirror-image pair orientation before each row; swapping L for R breaks the chevron joint line
· Use rubber mallet and tapping block on T&G joint edge; never strike the stave face
· Expansion gap: 10mm minimum at all walls; cover with skirting or threshold
· Cure: 48 hours minimum before light foot traffic; 72 hours before normal use
Underfloor Heating
AM-42 is compatible with both hydronic and electric UFH systems with T&G glue-down installation.
· Maximum surface temperature: 27°C
· Use flexible polyurethane adhesive compatible with UFH
· Switch off heating 48 hours before installation
· Restart heating: increase 1–2°C per day to target temperature
· Maintain indoor humidity 45–60% RH year-round
· UV lacquer is stable under UFH heating cycles
· Thermal resistance: 0.15 m²K/W maximum
Room Suitability
| Room / Application | Suitability | Notes | |
| Living Rooms & Open-Plan | Exceptional | AM-42's warm honey-sand chevron creates an inviting, light-filled living room floor. The V-arrow movement adds geometric interest and direction; the warm colour works with traditional and contemporary furniture and wall colours. Install with the apex pointing toward the main focal point. | |
| Scandinavian & Japandi Interiors | Exceptional | Warm honey-oak chevron is the natural companion for Scandinavian and warm Japandi interiors: pale walls, natural linen, rattan and pale oak furniture, and plants. The warm honey-sand reads as naturally light and material-warm — the correct colour for Scandi design where natural wood warmth is essential. | |
Farmhouse & Country Contemporary | Exceptional | The warm natural honey-sand of AM-42 is perfectly at home in farmhouse and country contemporary interiors: cream walls, natural stone, terracotta accents, and warm timber joinery. The chevron pattern elevates the farmhouse floor beyond standard plank, adding geometric sophistication to the natural warm palette.
Entrance Halls & Landings | Excellent | Chevron is a classic entrance hall pattern — the directional V-arrow guides movement through the space. AM-42's warm honey-sand reads as welcoming and light in an entrance context. Orient the apex toward the main room or staircase for maximum visual impact.
Master Bedrooms | Excellent | Warm honey chevron creates a natural, restful bedroom floor. UV lacquer is low-maintenance; the warm colour reads as calm and comfortable in a bedroom context.
Dining Rooms & Kitchen-Diners | Excellent | Warm oak chevron works well in kitchen-diner and dining contexts — the warm colour is compatible with kitchen furniture in natural oak, painted, or contemporary finishes. UV lacquer resists spills effectively.
Home Offices | Good | Warm oak chevron creates a focused, naturally lit working environment. The pattern adds visual interest without distraction.
Bathrooms | Not Recommended | Not suitable for persistent moisture exposure.
Care & Maintenance — Brushed Oak Chevron UV Lacquer
| Task | Method | ||
| Daily | Dry sweep or vacuum with soft brush head. For chevron pattern floors, sweep diagonally along the stave direction (45° to room walls) or along the central spine of the chevron to move debris efficiently out of the stave joints. The warm honey colour of AM-42 shows dark grit and pet hair clearly — regular daily sweeping maintains the pattern's clean appearance and prevents surface scratching. | ||
| Weekly | Damp mop with well-wrung cloth and pH-neutral hardwood floor cleaner. UV lacquer is fully sealed — no risk to the brushed warm oak surface from normal damp mopping. No steam mop, no standing water, no excessive water near stave joints. | ||
| Spills | Wipe immediately with a dry cloth. UV lacquer resists household liquids effectively. The multiple 45° mitre joints of the chevron pattern create more joint length per square metre than long plank — prompt spill response is important to prevent penetration at joints. | ||
Joint care | Vacuum with soft brush attachment along the chevron joint lines periodically to remove fine debris from the 45° mitre joints. The warm honey colour reads most cleanly when joints are kept clear of accumulated dust.
Periodic maintenance | UV lacquer requires no periodic re-oiling. Buff with manufacturer-approved hardwood floor polish every 6–12 months to restore surface sheen and protection.
Scratches | Minor surface scratches: manufacturer-matched UV lacquer repair pen in warm honey-oak tone. Deep scratches through the lacquer: professional spot repair or sanding and lacquer recoating.
Patination | AM-42's warm honey-sand will deepen and enrich toward a richer amber-gold over time with light exposure — a natural and desirable process. To maintain even patination across the floor, avoid leaving rugs or furniture in fixed positions for extended periods during the first year.
Never | Steam mop · standing water · abrasive scrubbers · bleach or acid cleaners · oil or wax products on lacquered surface · silicone-based polishes · dragging heavy furniture across chevron joints.

FAQ
Q1. What is AM-42 brushed oak chevron engineered flooring?
AM-42 is a 90×510mm engineered oak chevron floor in AB select grade with a brushed surface and UV lacquer finish: 14/3mm 3-layer construction with a 3mm solid European oak wear layer, T&G tongue-and-groove glue-down or nail-down installation. The chevron pattern is formed by precision 45° mitre-cut staves laid in mirror-image L/R pairs to create a continuous V-arrow formation. AM-42's warm honey-sand colour is the natural, unmodified colour of AB select European oak under brushed surface and UV lacquer — no tinting, no warming treatment, no modification.
Q2. What is the difference between AM-42 and AM-40?
AM-42 and AM-40 are both AB select brushed UV lacquer chevron floors in the same 90×510mm stave dimension, but differ in two key ways. First, thickness: AM-42 is 14/3mm with a 3mm wear layer; AM-40 is 15/4mm with a 4mm wear layer — AM-40 has 1mm more total thickness and 1mm more wear layer, providing additional refinishing capacity. Second, colour: AM-42 reads as warm honey-sand — the natural, golden-warm tone of European oak; AM-40 reads as cool greige — a more contemporary, grey-beige tone. Specify AM-42 for warm natural honey-oak chevron. Specify AM-40 where a thicker wear layer or a cooler, more design-neutral colour is required.
Q3. Will AM-42's warm honey colour change over time?
Yes — European oak in natural warm honey-sand colour undergoes gradual photosensitive patination with light exposure. AM-42's warm honey-sand tone deepens and enriches toward a richer amber-gold over the first year or two of light exposure, after which the colour stabilises. This natural patination is a widely valued quality of natural-finish oak — the floor becomes warmer and richer with time. The UV lacquer does not prevent this patination, which occurs in the wood below the lacquer coat. To maintain even patination, avoid leaving rugs or furniture in fixed positions during the first year.
Q4. Does T&G chevron flooring need to be glued down?
Yes — T&G chevron flooring is installed by full glue-down to the subfloor (recommended) or nail-down to a timber subfloor. T&G is not a click-floating system; the staves are secured by adhesive or cleats. Full-spread flexible polyurethane or MS polymer adhesive is the recommended installation method for AM-42 on concrete or screeded subfloors. Floating installation is not recommended for T&G chevron: the precision 45° mitre alignment requires the rigidity of a bonded installation to maintain the continuous diagonal joint line across the room.
Q5. Can AM-42 be installed over underfloor heating?
Yes — AM-42 is compatible with both hydronic and electric underfloor heating with T&G glue-down installation. Use a flexible polyurethane adhesive compatible with UFH. Maximum surface temperature 27°C. Maintain indoor humidity 45–60% RH year-round. Switch off heating 48 hours before installation; restart gradually at 1–2°C per day. UV lacquer is stable under UFH heating cycles.
Q6. Why is AB grade specified for AM-42 chevron?
AB grade is the appropriate specification for chevron pattern floors because the visual focus is on the geometric V-arrow formation itself rather than on individual board character. Clean, consistent AB select boards allow the continuous diagonal joint of the chevron to read with maximum clarity and uniformity — the eye follows the pattern geometry without distraction from strong board-to-board colour or knot variation. For a herringbone floor where more character is desired, AM-23 (CD grade herringbone with broken edge and invisible treatment) offers a more characterful alternative pattern specification.
Q7. What is the minimum order for AM-42?
Standard MOQ is 200 m² per SKU from our China factory. Free samples available — email arboren@arboren.com. Samples include both a single stave and a small assembled chevron section to demonstrate the pattern formation and warm colour. Dispatched within 4-5 business days. OEM orders from 200 m² MOQ.
