Natural Oak 120mm Click Herringbone Engineered Flooring — AM-26
Natural Oak 120mm Click Herringbone Engineered Flooring — AM-26
AM-26 is a 120mm herringbone engineered oak floor in CDE high natural character grade, brushed and finished with UV lacquer: 14/3mm three-layer construction with a 3mm solid European oak wear layer, click floating installation — no adhesive required. AM-26 occupies a unique position in the AMUER herringbone range as the only 120mm herringbone with click floating installation: all other herringbone and chevron products in the range use T&G tongue-and-groove glue-down fixing. Click installation transforms the accessibility of the herringbone format — it can be laid by a competent installer without specialist parquet training, lifted and re-laid if required, and installed over existing floors without subfloor preparation for adhesive. The CDE grade brings the highest natural character available: prominent open and solid knots, bold swirling grain, dramatic colour variation from pale cream heartwood to rich amber-brown, and the full rustic drama of European oak at its most characterful. The brushed surface accentuates the CDE grade’s grain movement and knot halos with visible texture, and UV lacquer provides a durable, low-maintenance protective film over the full natural character of the species. AM-26 is the specification for clients who want the scale, drama, and warmth of a 120mm wide herringbone in natural oak character — with the practical installation advantage of a floating click floor.

Natural Oak 120mm Click Herringbone Engineered Flooring — AM-26
Full Product Specification
Specification
AM-26 Detail
Product Code
AM-26
Species
Top layer European Oak ;  Poplar core and backing layer
Construction
3-Layer Engineered Wood Flooring  — cross-ply solid timber core for dimensional stability
Total Thickness
14/3mm (14mm total, 3mm wear layer)
Top Layer
3mm solid European oak — supports 1–2 light sanding cycles
Stave Dimensions
120mm × 600mm — 120mm wide herringbone plank; 600mm long; 5:1 length-to-width ratio producing a bold herringbone repeat
Pattern
Herringbone — 45° classic herringbone (point parquet) pattern; square-ended boards in alternating left/right orientations; board end meets board side at a staggered 45° joint; both board orientations are identical (no left-hand/right-hand distinction — unlike chevron)
Colour
AM-26 Natural Oak — warm honey-amber to russet-brown; the authentic natural colour of CDE grade European oak; CDE grade produces a richer, deeper, more varied colour range than AB grade: pale cream heartwood at one end, deep amber-brown and russet-honey at the other, with dramatic mid-tone variation across the floor; no stain, bleach, or chemical treatment; 100% natural oak colour enhanced by UV lacquer
Surface Treatment
Brushed — wire-brush treatment removes softer early-wood fibres and opens the natural grain structure; adds visible grain texture across each board face; on CDE grade, the brushed surface accentuates the prominent knot halos, bold grain swirls, and deep grain movement with a tactile raised-grain texture; in directional light, alternating herringbone boards with opposing grain directions create a subtle shadow-and-highlight interplay across the zigzag pattern
Finish
UV Lacquer — UV-cured polyurethane lacquer; hard, durable protective film; enhances and deepens the natural honey-amber oak colour; satin sheen level; low-maintenance: no periodic re-oiling required; strong resistance to everyday wear, scuffs, and household liquid spills; the correct finish for a high-character CDE grade floor where the visual drama is in the natural material rather than the surface treatment
Grading
CDE — High Natural Character Grade: prominent open and solid knots from 10mm to 40mm+; bold grain movement including swirling, interlocked, and cross-grain patterns; significant colour variation from pale cream to deep amber-brown across boards; sapwood inclusion in DE grade boards; all features structurally stable and factory-filled where required; the CDE grade is the highest character specification in the AM series and the correct choice for clients who want the full, dramatic natural beauty of European oak
Edge Profile
Square Edge — no bevel or chamfer; boards sit flush at every herringbone joint; allows the herringbone zigzag geometry to read as a seamless continuous field; square edge is the standard edge profile for herringbone click floating
Installation
Click floating (Uniclic-compatible) — no adhesive required; AM-26 is the only 120mm herringbone in the AMUER range with click installation; suitable for concrete screed, existing tiles, timber subfloor; expansion gap minimum 12mm at all walls; 48-hour acclimatisation required; herringbone click installation requires careful centre-line layout but does not require specialist parquet adhesive training
Underfloor Heating
Compatible — maximum surface temperature 27°C (hydronic and electric); maintain indoor humidity 45–60% RH year-round; UV lacquer more moisture-resistant than wax oil; click floating installation allows thermal expansion without adhesive constraint

PRODUCT OVERVIEW · AM-26 NATURAL OAK CLICK HERRINGBONE

120mm Herringbone with Click Installation — Character and Accessibility Combined

AM-26 is the defining product in the AMUER herringbone range for one reason that no other herringbone in the range can offer: click floating installation. Every other herringbone and chevron product in the AMUER catalogue — AM-22, AM-25, AM-41, AM-42 — uses T&G tongue-and-groove glue-down installation that requires full-spread adhesive, a highly prepared subfloor, and an experienced parquet specialist. AM-26 uses a Uniclic-compatible click system that locks boards together without adhesive, floats over the subfloor on an underlay, and can be installed by a competent general flooring installer rather than a parquet specialist.

This is not a compromise: click floating herringbone is a genuinely different installation approach with its own practical advantages. The floor can be lifted and re-laid — useful for rental properties, renovations, or clients who may relocate. It can be installed over existing floors without adhesive preparation, reducing installation time and subfloor requirements. And it can be laid and walked on within hours rather than waiting for adhesive to cure. For a 120mm herringbone at CDE grade — a bold, characterful, premium-looking floor — the click installation makes the specification accessible to a much wider range of projects and clients.

The CDE grade is the right choice for AM-26. At 120mm width, the herringbone board is wide enough to display the dramatic features of CDE grade oak at full scale: the prominent knots with their swirling halos read across multiple adjacent boards in the zigzag pattern, creating a floor that has genuine visual complexity and natural drama from across the room. The CDE grade’s colour variation — from pale cream heartwood to deep amber-russet — distributes across the herringbone field as a warm tonal range that shifts subtly in different lighting conditions. No AB grade floor can produce this quality of natural drama; it requires the full character of CDE.

The brushed surface and UV lacquer complete AM-26’s specification correctly. Brushing accentuates the CDE grade’s bold grain and knot texture with a raised-grain surface that catches light across the herringbone pattern. UV lacquer provides durable protection without a maintenance programme, making AM-26 a high-character floor that is also genuinely low-maintenance.
Design Guide
AM-26’s warm honey-amber CDE natural oak, bold knot character, 120mm herringbone geometry, and UV lacquer finish place it in warm, character-rich, and design-confident interior contexts. The CDE grade’s natural drama is the design statement — the interior palette should complement rather than compete with it.
Warm Country  & Heritage
AM-26’s CDE grade knots and rich amber tone read as a classic country house or heritage parquet floor. The 120mm herringbone at CDE grade is the contemporary equivalent of antique reclaimed oak parquet — the same dramatic natural character, with the practical advantages of engineered construction and click installation. Works with stone walls, cream and warm linen tones, aged brass hardware, and traditional furniture.
Warm Contemporary  & Relaxed Luxury
In warm contemporary interiors, AM-26’s CDE grade drama reads as a premium natural material rather than a rustic or traditional floor. The 120mm herringbone geometry is bold and architectural; the CDE grade knots and amber-gold colour range add luxurious natural character. Pairs with warm white walls, aged brass fixtures, velvet and wool upholstery, and natural stone surfaces.
Rich Colour &  Maximalist Warmth
AM-26’s warm amber-honey CDE oak is an outstanding floor beneath bold, deep wall colours. Against forest green, deep navy, burnt orange, or warm burgundy, the rich natural oak tone creates a warm, luminous contrast. The CDE grade’s natural drama is an equal partner to rich, layered interior decoration rather than a plain backdrop.
T&G Installation — Chevron Pattern Laying Guide
T&G Glue-Down Installation
Herringbone T&G flooring must be fully glued to the subfloor. Unlike click floating formats, herringbone installation requires adhesive bonding for pattern stability — the multi-directional stress of the herringbone layout cannot be managed by a floating installation.
•Adhesive: use approved full-spread flexible adhesive for engineered herringbone
•Subfloor flatness: 2mm per 2m maximum (tighter tolerance than long plank)
•Subfloor moisture: ≥4% MC (timber) or ≤3.5% CM (concrete screed) before installation
•Expansion gap: minimum 10mm at all walls and fixed structures
•Acclimatisation: 48 hours at room temperature in the installation space
•Layout: establish a centre line from the room's main viewpoint; lay from centre outward
•V-point direction: V-points toward main entrance or primary view
•Square edge: do not fill joints — flush square-edge joints are an intentional feature
Qualified installer: herringbone installation should be carried out by an experienced parquet flooring specialist
Underfloor Heating
AM-25 is compatible with hydronic and electric UFH. The glue-down T&G installation is the most thermally stable format for engineered herringbone flooring over UFH.
•Maximum surface temperature: 27°C
•Switch off UFH 48 hours before installation
•After installation: 7-day cure for adhesive before activating UFH
•Increase temperature gradually: +1–2°C per day to target
•Maintain indoor humidity 45–60% RH year-round
•Natural oil finish requires humidity management — critical for herringbone joint stability
•Thermal resistance: 0.15 m²K/W maximum (including adhesive bed)

Notes
Living Rooms (medium–large)
Exceptional
AM-26 is outstanding in medium to large living rooms. The 120mm herringbone creates a bold geometric ground plane; the CDE grade knots and colour variation read across the full room as a rich, natural material field. Click installation means no adhesive disruption — the floor can be laid in a day and used immediately.
Open Plan Living
Exceptional
120mm CDE herringbone in an open plan creates a dramatic, characterful geometric ground across the full space. The warm honey-amber CDE tone anchors the open plan with natural richness. Click installation is especially practical in an occupied renovation context.
Entrance Halls
Excellent
CDE grade herringbone in an entrance hall is a bold, welcoming statement. The V-point directs the eye into the space. Click installation is faster than glue-down in a hallway where the household needs to maintain access.
Dining Rooms
Excellent
The herringbone pattern is a classic dining room floor. Natural oil maintenance is manageable in a dining context with prompt spill response. The warm honey-gold tone is complementary to dining room furniture and candlelight.
Bedrooms
Excellent
CDE herringbone creates a rich, characterful bedroom. The warmth of natural oak CDE grade is particularly effective in a bedroom context where warmth and comfort are the primary atmosphere requirements.
Rental & Investment Properties
Excellent
Click floating installation is re-liftable — the floor can be taken up and re-laid if required. UV lacquer is low-maintenance. CDE grade hides wear marks better than pale or uniform-tone floors. An excellent practical choice for rental property.
Home Offices
Good
CDE herringbone creates a rich, warm, characterful home office. Use a desk chair mat on the UV lacquer surface.
Kitchen (dry zone)
Good with care
UV lacquer resists kitchen spills. Suitable for dining and seating zones. Avoid installation directly in front of sinks. Click floating can be partially lifted if water damage occurs under a section — an advantage over glue-down.
Bathrooms
Not Recommended
Not suitable for persistent moisture exposure.
Care & Maintenance — UV Lacquer on Brushed CDE Oak Herringbone
Task
Method
Daily
Dry sweep or vacuum with soft brush head across the herringbone pattern. The brushed grain channels collect fine grit — remove regularly to prevent abrasion of the UV lacquer surface. CDE grade warm amber tone is forgiving of dust and everyday marks.
Weekly
Damp mop with a well-wrung cloth and pH-neutral UV lacquer floor cleaner only. No steam mop. No standard household cleaners. No standing water. Mop across the herringbone pattern direction.
Spills
Wipe up immediately with a dry cloth. UV lacquer provides good resistance to household liquid spills. Do not allow water to stand in herringbone joints near the click system — moisture can affect the click joint over time..
Herringbone joints
o not fill or caulk the herringbone joints. The flush square-edge joints are an intentional feature. Clean with a soft vacuum brush attachment.
No re-oiling
UV lacquer requires no periodic re-oiling. Never apply wax, oil, or maintenance oil products to AM-26 — these will cause adhesion failure with the UV lacquer and produce a patchy, irreversible surface.
Click joint care
As a floating floor, AM-26 requires an unobstructed expansion gap at all walls (minimum 12mm) to allow seasonal movement. Do not fix skirting boards or door frames directly to the floating floor. If water penetration occurs (burst pipe, flood), the floor can be partially lifted and re-laid once the subfloor is dry.
Furniture
Felt pads under all furniture legs. Protective mat under desk chairs. Avoid dragging heavy furniture across the herringbone pattern.
Never
Steam mop · standing water at joints · wax or oil products on UV lacquer · standard cleaners with ammonia or bleach · abrasive pads · fixing skirting directly to floating floor · blocking expansion gaps with furniture.

FAQ
Q1. What is 120mm click herringbone engineered flooring?
120mm click herringbone engineered flooring is an engineered hardwood floor laid in the classic herringbone (point parquet) pattern using 120mm wide boards, with Uniclic-compatible click floating installation that requires no adhesive. AMUER AM-26 is the only 120mm herringbone in the AMUER range with click installation. It is 120mm × 600mm, 14/3mm total thickness with a 3mm solid European oak wear layer, CDE high natural character grade, brushed surface treatment, UV lacquer finish, and click floating fixing that floats over the subfloor on an approved underlay.
Q2. What is the advantage of click herringbone over glue-down?
Click herringbone offers several practical advantages over T&G glue-down: no adhesive is required, reducing installation cost and complexity; a competent general flooring installer can lay it without specialist parquet adhesive training; the floor can be lifted and re-laid if required (useful for rental properties or renovations); it can be installed over existing floors without adhesive preparation; and UFH can be activated within 48 hours rather than waiting 7 days for adhesive cure. The trade-off is that T&G glue-down provides maximum pattern stability for very high traffic or commercial applications.
Q3.  What is CDE grade oak herringbone?
CDE grade is AMUER’s high natural character oak grade, including the full range of European oak’s naturally occurring features: prominent open and solid knots from 10mm to 40mm+; bold swirling and cross-grain movement; significant colour variation from pale cream heartwood to deep amber-russet; sapwood inclusion; and natural colour variation from board to board. CDE grade delivers the full, dramatic natural beauty of European oak — the correct specification for clients who want genuine character and warmth rather than a uniform or clean-grade floor.
Q4. Can AM-25 herringbone be used over underfloor heating?
Yes — AM-26 is compatible with both hydronic and electric UFH, maximum surface temperature 27°C. Click floating installation is suitable over UFH and accommodates thermal expansion in the floating plane without adhesive constraint. A key advantage over glue-down is that UFH can be activated within 48 hours of installation — there is no adhesive cure period to wait for. Maintain indoor humidity at 45–60% RH year-round.
Q5. Is AM-26 suitable for rental properties?
Yes — AM-26 is an excellent choice for rental properties for several reasons: click floating installation means the floor can be lifted and re-laid if damaged or if the landlord relocates; UV lacquer is low-maintenance (no periodic re-oiling required by tenants); CDE grade warm amber tone is forgiving of everyday marks and wear compared to pale or uniform-tone floors; and the 120mm herringbone creates a premium-looking floor that adds significant perceived value to a rental property.
Q6.   What is the difference between AM-26 and AM-25?
AM-26 and AM-25 are both 120mm herringbone formats. The key differences: AM-26 uses click floating installation (no adhesive); AM-25 uses T&G glue-down installation (adhesive required). AM-26 is CDE high natural character grade; AM-25 is AB premium natural character grade. AM-26 has UV lacquer finish; AM-25 has natural oil finish (which requires periodic re-oiling). AM-26 is more accessible to install and lower-maintenance; AM-25 has a more refined, lower-character grade with an authentic natural oil surface.
Q7. What is the minimum order for AM-25?
The standard minimum order for AMUER AM-26 is 200 m² per SKU from our China factory. Free samples are available — email arboren@arboren.com. Samples are dispatched to EU, Australian, and most international addresses within 4-5 business days.
