Smoked Oak Herringbone Engineered Flooring DE Grade Brushed UV Lacquer — AC-10
Smoked Oak Herringbone Engineered Flooring DE Grade Brushed UV Lacquer — AC-10
AC-10 is a 90×600mm herringbone engineered oak floor in DE high character grade with a combined brushed and smoked surface treatment and UV lacquer finish: 14/3mm 3-layer construction with a 3mm solid European oak wear layer, tongue-and-groove (T&G) glue-down or nail-down installation.
Where AMUER's deep smoked oak products (DS-01, DS-03) push toward near-black intensity, AC-10's smoke treatment is calibrated to a warmer, mid-tone register — a rich russet-brown that retains visible warmth and depth rather than reading as dramatically dark. Combined with the classic herringbone zigzag pattern, the brushed grain texture, and DE grade natural character, AC-10 produces a floor with genuine lived-in warmth: smoked enough to feel grounded and substantial, light enough to remain inviting and versatile across a wide range of interior styles, from mid-century modern to contemporary warm and traditional.
The DE grade adds natural knots, grain movement, and figure that the mid-tone smoke treatment displays with clarity — neither washed out by excessive lightness nor obscured by excessive darkness. The UV lacquer finish seals this combination under a hard, durable, low-maintenance protective coat suitable for everyday family living.

Species
Top layer European Oak ;  Poplar core and backing layer
Construction
3-Layer Engineered Wood Flooring  — cross-ply solid timber core for dimensional stability
Total Thickness
14/3mm (14mm total, 3mm wear layer)
Top Layer
3mm solid European oak — supports 1–2 light sanding cycles
Stave Dimensions
90mm wide × 600mm long — square-cut ends for classic herringbone assembly; each stave alternates at 90° to its neighbours to create the zigzag formation
Pattern
Herringbone — staves are square-cut and laid in alternating 90° pairs; each stave end meets the side of the next stave, creating the characteristic broken zigzag joint and diagonal visual rhythm; one of the most widely specified and versatile parquet patterns, suited to both traditional and contemporary interiors
Colour
AC-10 Warm Smoked Oak — a mid-tone russet-brown, calibrated to retain visible warmth and depth rather than reading as a deep or near-black smoked colour; the ammonia smoke treatment darkens the natural oak tannins to a moderate degree, producing a rich, lived-in brown with subtle red-amber undertones; the DE grade colour variation reads as a natural range of warm brown tones across the herringbone staves, from lighter caramel-brown to deeper russet; no artificial pigment or stain — the colour is the natural smoked oak tannin reaction
Surface Treatment
Brushed + Smoked — combined treatment: (1) Smoked: moderate-depth ammonia fuming that darkens the natural oak tannins to a warm mid-tone russet-brown, calibrated lighter and warmer than AMUER's deep smoke products; (2) Brushed: wire or nylon brushes remove the soft early-wood fibres after smoking, exposing the harder late-wood grain lines in tactile relief; the brushed texture adds depth and shadow to the smoked colour, with the grain pattern reading clearly through the warm brown tone
Finish
UV Lacquer — hard, clear factory-applied finish; seals and protects the brushed smoked surface; scratch and stain resistant; easy daily maintenance; no periodic re-oiling required; the UV lacquer reads with a warm satin sheen on the russet-brown smoked surface
Grading
DE — High Natural Character Grade: open and filled knots, black knots, natural checks, pronounced grain movement and figure; the DE grade's natural character reads clearly through the mid-tone smoked colour — knots appear as warmer or darker focal points within the russet-brown field, adding individual character to each herringbone stave without the colour being so dark that this character is obscured
Edge Profile
Square Edge — flush stave-to-stave joint within the herringbone formation
Installation
T&G (Tongue-and-Groove) — glue-down (recommended) or nail-down (timber subfloor only); floating not recommended for herringbone T&G format; full-spread flexible adhesive across entire stave back
Underfloor Heating
Compatible — maximum surface temperature 27°C; maintain 45–60% RH year-round; flexible polyurethane adhesive required for UFH glue-down; UV lacquer stable under heating cycles
Emission Class

PRODUCT OVERVIEW · AC-10 WARM SMOKED HERRINGBONE

Mid-Tone Russet Smoked Oak at 90×600mm — Warmth, Character, Versatility

AC-10 occupies a specific position within the AMUER smoked oak range: a moderate, calibrated smoke treatment that delivers genuine colour depth and warmth without the dramatic darkness of deep smoke products like DS-01 or DS-03. This mid-tone approach makes AC-10 significantly more versatile as a herringbone specification — compatible with a broader range of interior styles than either fully natural light oak or near-black deep smoked alternatives.
The smoke treatment on AC-10 is calibrated to produce a warm russet-brown — a colour that retains the natural warmth associated with European oak while adding the depth, richness, and slight grey-brown complexity that smoke treatment uniquely provides. This is the colour register most associated with classic mid-century modern interiors, where warm wood tones were paired with leather upholstery, walnut and teak furniture, and earthy, grounded colour palettes — a connection the product photography for AC-10 makes directly, showing the floor alongside a mid-century leather and wood-framed armchair.
The herringbone pattern adds geometric sophistication to this warm colour base: the classic zigzag formation is one of the most universally appealing parquet patterns, equally at home in traditional period properties and contemporary interiors. At 90×600mm, the stave proportion produces a herringbone with generous, clearly readable zigzag rhythm.
The DE grade and brushed surface complete the specification with natural character and tactile texture: knots and grain movement read clearly through the mid-tone smoked colour, and the brushed surface adds fine grain relief that catches light naturally across the herringbone's changing stave directions. The UV lacquer finish provides the practical, low-maintenance durability appropriate for an everyday family living floor.
Design Guide
AC-10's warm mid-tone smoked colour, classic herringbone pattern, and UV lacquer practicality make it one of the most versatile and broadly appealing pattern floor specifications in the AMUER range:
Mid-Century Modern
AC-10's warm russet-brown is the natural floor companion for mid-century modern furniture — teak and walnut wood tones, black and tan leather upholstery, brass fixtures. The herringbone pattern is historically appropriate for the era, and the moderate smoke colour reads as substantial without overwhelming the furniture's own wood tones.
Warm Contemporary & Transitional
AC-10's grounded warmth works across contemporary and transitional interiors that want a floor with genuine colour depth without committing to the drama of deep smoked or pure black floors. The mid-tone russet is versatile enough to anchor both minimal and richly layered interior schemes.
Traditional & Family Residential
In traditional and classic family residential interiors, AC-10's herringbone and warm smoked colour create a substantial, characterful floor that suits both period and traditional new-build properties without reading as either too cool-contemporary or too rustic-antique.
Installation & Room Suitability
Herringbone T&G Glue-Down Installation
AC-10 uses T&G glue-down (recommended) or nail-down installation. The herringbone pattern requires precise stave alignment for the zigzag rhythm to read correctly.

· Subfloor flatness: 3mm per 2m maximum
· Adhesive: flexible polyurethane or MS polymer; full-spread trowel application
· Layout: establish the herringbone spine line from room centre or focal wall; snap chalk line at 45° to the room walls
· Dry-lay 10–15 staves along the spine line before committing to adhesive
· Expansion gap: 10mm minimum at all walls
· Acclimatise 48 hours at room temperature before installation
· Adhesive cure: 48 hours minimum before foot traffic
Underfloor Heating
AC-10 is compatible with both hydronic and electric UFH with T&G glue-down installation.

· Maximum surface temperature: 27°C
· Use flexible polyurethane adhesive compatible with UFH
· Switch off heating 48 hours before installation
· Restart: increase 1–2°C per day to target temperature
· Maintain 45–60% RH year-round
· UV lacquer is stable under heating cycles
· Thermal resistance: 0.15 m²K/W maximum

AC-10's warm, substantial colour creates a focused yet welcoming working environment.
Hallways
Very Good
UV lacquer handles hallway traffic well; the mid-tone smoked colour is more forgiving of dust and scuffs than very pale or very dark floors.
Bathrooms
Not Recommended
Not suitable for persistent moisture exposure.
Care & Maintenance — Smoked Brushed Oak Herringbone UV Lacquer
Task
Method
Daily
Dry sweep or vacuum with soft brush head, sweeping diagonally along the stave direction or along the herringbone spine to move debris efficiently out of the pattern joints. The mid-tone smoked colour is more forgiving of dust than very dark or very pale floors, but regular sweeping still maintains the floor's appearance.
Weekly
Damp mop with well-wrung cloth and pH-neutral hardwood floor cleaner. UV lacquer is fully sealed — no risk to the smoked colour or brushed surface. No steam mop, no standing water.
Spills
Wipe immediately with a dry cloth. UV lacquer resists household liquids effectively. Prompt action prevents penetration at herringbone joints.
Joint care
Vacuum with soft brush attachment along the herringbone joint lines periodically to remove fine debris.
Periodic maintenance
UV lacquer requires no periodic re-oiling. Buff with manufacturer-approved hardwood floor polish every 6–12 months.
Scratches
Minor surface scratches: manufacturer-matched lacquer repair pen in russet-brown smoked oak tone. Deep scratches: professional sanding and lacquer recoating.
Never
Steam mop · standing water · bleach or acid cleaners · abrasive scrubbers · oil or wax products on lacquered surface · silicone-based polishes · dragging heavy furniture across herringbone joints.

FAQ
Q1.  What is smoked oak herringbone engineered flooring?
AC-10 is a 90×600mm herringbone engineered oak floor with a combined brushed and smoked surface treatment and UV lacquer finish, in DE high character grade, 14/3mm 3-layer construction with a 3mm solid oak wear layer, T&G installation. The smoke treatment is moderate depth — calibrated to produce a warm russet-brown colour rather than the deep near-black of AMUER's heavily smoked products, retaining visible warmth while adding the depth and richness that smoke treatment provides.
Q2.   How does AC-10's smoke depth compare to AMUER's deep smoked products like DS-01?
AC-10 uses a moderate smoke treatment producing a warm russet-brown colour, while DS-01 and DS-03 use deep smoke treatment producing an intense near-black chocolate-brown. AC-10's lighter smoke calibration retains more of the natural oak's warmth and red-amber undertones, making it more versatile across a broader range of interior styles — particularly mid-century modern and warm contemporary interiors that benefit from colour depth without dramatic darkness. For maximum dark drama, specify DS-01 or DS-03; for warm, grounded richness, AC-10 is the better fit.
Q3.  Is AC-10's herringbone pattern suitable for both traditional and contemporary interiors?
Yes — herringbone is one of the most versatile parquet patterns, historically associated with both classic period properties and contemporary design. AC-10's warm mid-tone smoked colour extends this versatility further: warm enough for traditional and mid-century interiors, contemporary enough for warm modern and transitional schemes, without the more design-statement character of very pale natural oak (too light for some traditional contexts) or very dark smoked oak (too dramatic for some traditional or family-oriented contexts).
Q4.  Can AC-10 be installed over underfloor heating?
Yes — AC-10 is compatible with both hydronic and electric underfloor heating with T&G glue-down installation. Use a flexible polyurethane adhesive compatible with UFH. Maximum surface temperature 27°C. Maintain indoor humidity 45–60% RH year-round. Switch off heating 48 hours before installation; restart gradually at 1–2°C per day.
Q5.   Is AM-26 suitable for rental properties?
The smoked colour of AC-10 is a permanent chemical reaction between ammonia and the natural tannins in the oak, not a surface coating, and will not fade or wash out under normal use and UV lacquer protection. The UV lacquer coat provides UV resistance that helps protect the colour from light-induced change over time.
Q6.   What is the minimum order for AC-10?
Daily dry sweeping (diagonally along the stave direction or along the herringbone spine), weekly damp mopping with pH-neutral hardwood floor cleaner, and periodic buffing with manufacturer-approved hardwood floor polish every 6–12 months. No periodic re-oiling required. Vacuum herringbone joint lines periodically with a soft brush attachment to remove fine debris.
Q7. What is the minimum order for AM-25?
Daily dry sweeping (diagonally along the stave direction or along the herringbone spine), weekly damp mopping with pH-neutral hardwood floor cleaner, and periodic buffing with manufacturer-approved hardwood floor polish every 6–12 months. No periodic re-oiling required. Vacuum herringbone joint lines periodically with a soft brush attachment to remove fine debris.
