Detail Information
What Is Engineered Hardwood Flooring?
Engineered hardwood flooring is a multi-layer wood floor built from cross-layered timber plies bonded beneath a solid hardwood wear layer — delivering the authentic grain and texture of solid wood with superior dimensional stability against moisture and temperature change. Unlike solid wood, engineered construction resists the expansion and contraction that causes warping, making it suitable for installation over underfloor heating systems and in rooms where solid timber would be high-risk.
At AMUER, we have manufactured engineered hardwood flooring since 1997 from two dedicated production facilities — our primary factory in China and our European facility in Serbia. We supply distributors, contractors, architects, and developers across 60+ countries. Available in oak, walnut, ash, hickory, and maple, in five laying patterns and seven surface finishes, with full OEM and private-label capability for clients who require custom specifications.
Why Choose AMUER — The Dual Factory Advantage
Since 1997, AMUER has manufactured engineered hardwood flooring from two dedicated production facilities — our primary factory in China, and our European facility in Serbia. The China factory supplies our full product range at production scale, with 200+ SKUs available for standard wholesale and OEM orders. Our Serbia facility draws on locally sourced Balkan oak and European timber, serving European distributors with shorter lead times and full CE and FSC chain-of-custody certification. Both factories operate under ISO 9001 quality management and are available for factory audit by appointment.

Available Wood Species
AMUER produces engineered hardwood flooring in six primary species, each available across the full range of thicknesses, finishes, and laying patterns. Custom species are available on request for OEM clients.
European Oak
European Oak
The most versatile and consistently popular species in our range. European oak offers a balanced, open grain with warm amber tones, natural knots, and rich character markings. Available in natural, smoked, grey, white, and whitewashed stains across all seven surface textures. Suitable for residential and commercial applications worldwide.
White Oak
The most-requested species in European and North American interior design markets. White oak has a tighter, more uniform grain and a cooler, pale tone than European oak — performing particularly well with wire-brushed and UV oil finishes. Widely specified for Scandinavian, contemporary, and transitional interiors.
Ash
Pale, strong, and distinctly grained. Ash has a pronounced open grain structure that performs exceptionally with wire-brushed and deep-brushed surface treatments. Popular in Scandinavian, Nordic, and wide-plank applications. One of the harder species in our range.
Hickory
One of the hardest species available in engineered construction. Hickory has bold, dramatic grain variation with strong contrast between heartwood and sapwood — delivering a characterful, rustic aesthetic. Primarily specified for the US market. CARB Phase 2 compliant.
Maple
Hard, pale, and uniform. Maple is the commercial-grade preference for applications requiring consistent colour, high durability, and a clean, contemporary appearance — including retail spaces, offices, and multi-family residential projects.
Laying Patterns
AMUER engineered hardwood flooring is available in five laying patterns. Each pattern is available across all species and surface finish options. Custom pattern configurations are available for OEM and project-specific orders.
Wide Plank
Wide Plank
The contemporary long-board standard. Wide plank flooring uses boards from 120mm to 300mm wide, creating an open, spacious aesthetic suited to modern, Scandinavian, and minimalist interiors. Engineered construction allows these widths without the stability risks of solid wood at the same dimensions.
Best for: open-plan living, new-build residential, large commercial spaces
Herringbone
Boards laid at 90° in a classic V-shaped repeat — the defining pattern of European residential and hospitality interiors. Available in standard scale (70×350mm) and jumbo scale (90×450mm and above) for larger rooms.
Best for: hallways, reception areas, formal living rooms, boutique hotels
Herringbone Flooring
Chevron
Unlike herringbone, chevron boards are mitre-cut at an angle so that the ends meet in a continuous arrow point. The result is a sharper, more geometric pattern with a stronger directional flow. More precise to install than herringbone, and typically carries a small cost premium.
Best for: contemporary interiors, long corridors, feature rooms
Parquet
Multi-piece geometric mosaic pattern. AMUER offers basket weave, brick bond, and Versailles configurations, as well as fully custom parquet designs to architectural drawings for bespoke residential and hospitality projects.
Best for: grand entrance halls, heritage restorations, luxury residential
XL Format
Extra-large boards up to 300mm wide by 2,400mm long. This format is only achievable with engineered construction — solid wood at these dimensions would cup and warp. XL format creates a seamless, almost joint-free visual that makes spaces feel larger.
Best for: high-ceiling contemporary spaces, open-plan apartments, premium commercial
Surface Finish Options
Every AMUER engineered hardwood floor is available in seven surface textures, applied before final finishing. Surface texture is independent of the top-coat finish (lacquer, oil, or hardwax oil) — any texture can be combined with any finish.
Smooth
A clean, flat surface with no applied texture — the natural result of precision sanding. Works with all species and finish types. The preferred choice for contemporary, minimalist, and commercial interiors where a refined, consistent appearance is required.
Distressed
An intentionally aged surface created through mechanical and manual distressing — controlled dents, marks, and surface variation that replicate the look of worn, antique timber. Highly effective at concealing everyday wear in high-traffic environments. Popular in rustic, farmhouse, and reclaimed-aesthetic interiors.
Hand Scraped
Each board is individually scraped by hand using a traditional cabinet scraper, creating a unique, slightly irregular surface texture. No two planks are identical. Delivers an artisan, handmade quality that machine-applied textures cannot replicate.
Saw Mark
Circular saw marks are left visible across the face of each board — a raw, industrial character finish that references the original milling process. Strong aesthetic for industrial, loft, and contemporary-rustic interiors.
Wire Brushed
Steel wire brushes remove the softer early-wood grain from the surface, leaving the harder late-wood grain slightly raised. The result is a subtle, natural-feeling texture with an open-grain appearance. The most popular textured finish in the European market, particularly with white oak and ash.
Deep Brushed
A more aggressive wire brushing process that removes a greater depth of soft grain, creating pronounced channels and furrows across the board face. Delivers dramatic shadow depth and a strongly textured, tactile surface. Suited to bold, architectural interiors.
Wave Texture
A gentle, undulating surface contour across the face of each board — inspired by the natural surface of water-worn driftwood. A signature AMUER finish, offering a uniquely organic and tactile quality that distinguishes installations from standard textured floors.
Bandsawn Edge
The long edges of each board are left with a rough-cut bandsawn profile rather than being fully machined smooth. This creates a natural shadow gap between boards in the installed floor, adding visual depth and dimension. Often combined with distressed or hand-scraped face textures.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: What is engineered hardwood flooring?
Engineered hardwood flooring is a multi-layer wood floor with a solid hardwood wear layer bonded over a core of cross-layered timber plies or HDF — delivering the authentic look and feel of solid wood with greater dimensional stability. Unlike solid wood, the cross-ply construction resists expansion and contraction caused by changes in humidity and temperature, making it suitable for kitchens, basements, and rooms with underfloor heating where solid wood would be unsuitable.
Q2: What is the difference between engineered and solid hardwood flooring?
Solid hardwood is milled from a single piece of timber throughout its full thickness; engineered hardwood has a genuine wood wear layer over a stable engineered core. Engineered flooring is more dimensionally stable, can be used over underfloor heating, is available in wider plank formats, and is typically more cost-effective. Solid wood has a thicker wear layer and can be refinished more times over its lifespan, but requires more controlled humidity conditions.
Q3: Can engineered hardwood flooring be refinished?
Yes — engineered hardwood can be sanded and refinished, but the number of times depends on the wear layer thickness. A 2mm wear layer allows 1–2 refinishes; a 4mm wear layer allows 3–4. AMUER offers wear layers from 2mm to 6mm depending on the product line. Ask our team to confirm refinishing capacity for your selected product.
Q4. Is engineered hardwood flooring suitable for underfloor heating?
Yes — engineered hardwood is the preferred wood flooring choice for underfloor heating systems. The cross-ply core construction resists the dimensional movement that solid wood would exhibit under repeated heating and cooling cycles.AMUER engineered hardwood flooring is compatible with both hydronic (wet) and electric underfloor heating systems. The maximum recommended surface temperature is 27°C. We recommend a controlled warm-up period of 7 days before the floor reaches full operating temperature.
Q5. What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
Our standard MOQ is 200 m² per SKU for products available from our standard range. For OEM and ODM custom orders — including custom species, non-standard dimensions, proprietary surface finishes, or private-label packaging — MOQ varies by project. Contact our sales team with your project specifications for a custom quotation.
Q6. Do you offer OEM and private-label flooring manufacturing?
Yes. AMUER produces engineered hardwood flooring under your brand with fully custom specifications — including wood species, board dimensions, surface texture, stain colour, finish type (lacquer or oil), and complete packaging and box label design. Both our China and Serbia factories support private-label production. All OEM products carry the same CE, FSC, and CARB certifications as our standard range. We sign NDAs on request.
Q7. What certifications does AMUER's engineered hardwood flooring carry?
All AMUER engineered hardwood products carry CE marking (EN 13489) and FSC chain-of-custody certification. Our floors are CARB Phase 2 compliant for import and sale in the United States, and meet E0 or E1 formaldehyde emission standards. Both production facilities hold ISO 9001:2015 quality management certification. Certification documents are available for download on our certifications page or on request from our technical team.
Q8. How do I request samples?
Use the Request a Sample form on this page or at /contact/request-samples/. Select up to three products, enter your shipping address, and our team will dispatch 30×30cm plank samples with full product spec sheets and care instructions. Samples are shipped free of charge to EU, US, Australian, and most other international destinations. Standard delivery is 5–10 business days via DHL or FedEx.
