Natural Oak Wide Plank Engineered Flooring -- AM-14
Embossed & Chemically Treated Natural Oak Wide Plank — AH-08
AH-08 is a 220mm wide plank engineered oak floor in DE grade with embossed surface relief and chemical treatment, finished in wax oil — a 15/4mm three-layer construction with a 4mm solid oak wear layer. The embossment process presses a structured relief pattern into the board face, creating a consistent tactile and visual depth that amplifies the oak's natural grain. Chemical treatment adds gentle tonal variation and opens the grain character, while wax oil preserves the full open texture and natural warmth of the surface.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW · AH-08 EMBOSSED & CHEMICALLY TREATED NATURAL OAK 220MM
AH-08 is a 220mm wide plank engineered oak floor in DE select grade with embossed surface relief and chemical treatment finished in wax oil — a floor where the surface is shaped twice: first by the embossment process, which presses structured relief into the board face so that the grain becomes a landscape of ridges and channels; then by chemical treatment, which opens the grain pores and introduces gentle tonal variation that deepens the visual character of each board. Wax oil completes the surface, penetrating every embossed channel and chemically opened pore to leave a matte, tactile finish that preserves full depth.

The embossment process used on AH-08 applies calibrated mechanical pressure to the board face, pressing the surface into a relief pattern that follows and amplifies the oak's natural grain direction. The result is a surface where the growth rings of the tree are translated into a consistent three-dimensional texture: the early-wood zones are depressed, the late-wood grain stands as raised ridges, and the transition between them is sharper than in any natural brushing process. Under raking light — morning sun at a low angle across the floor — the embossed surface reads as a field of fine parallel relief, the ridges casting shadows into the channels.

Chemical treatment is applied after embossment. The chemical process opens the grain pores across the board face and introduces controlled tonal variation: the early-wood zones take on a subtly different tone from the late-wood ridges, and the natural mineral and vessel structure of the oak becomes more legible across the surface. The effect is not a stain or artificial colouring — it is a process that reveals and amplifies the natural colour variation already present in the oak, giving each board a surface that reads as genuinely aged and naturally complex.
Design Guide
AH-08's embossed grain relief, chemical treatment depth, and sandy-gold wax oil tone make it a distinctive choice for interiors that value both tactile texture and subtle colour complexity. Two contexts where its specific qualities are most valued:
Modern-Rustic Interior AH-08
Modern-Rustic Interior
In interiors that combine raw industrial materials with natural warmth — polished concrete, reclaimed timber, natural clay — AH-08's embossed grain and chemical treatment give the floor a complexity that matches these materials. The structured relief texture sits alongside raw concrete as an equally honest material showing its structure openly.
Warm Nordic & Organic AH-08
Warm Nordic & Organic
AH-08's sandy-gold DE grain, seen against a white or pale wall, reads as light and warm without being amber-heavy. The embossed relief and chemical treatment provide visual interest and material quality without the colour drama of character-grade products. The treated grain adds warmth and depth to a palette that might otherwise risk reading as too pale.
Installation & Room Suitability
Click Installation (Floating)
AH-08 uses Uniclic-compatible click floating installation. At 220mm wide plank, careful subfloor preparation ensures an even, stable floor that shows the embossed texture to best advantage.

•No adhesive required — click lock floating installation
•Subfloor flatness: 3mm per 2m maximum
•Expansion gap at all walls: minimum 12mm
•48-hour acclimatisation at room temperature before installation
•Install perpendicular to main light source for maximum embossment drama at raking light
•Stagger end joints: minimum 300mm between rows
Foam or combination underlay suitable for wax oil floors
Underfloor Heating
AH-08 is compatible with both hydronic and electric UFH. Wax oil handles UFH thermal cycling well — it does not crack under heat stress as lacquer can. The embossed open-grain surface absorbs oil particularly well after UFH re-oiling.

•Maximum surface temperature: 27°C
•Switch off heating 24 hours before installation
•Restart gradually: 1–2°C per day to operating temperature
•Maintain indoor humidity 40–65% RH year-round
•Wax oil on embossed surface handles UFH cycles without cracking
•Thermal resistance 0.15 m²K/W maximum

Care & Maintenance — Wax Oil on Embossed Surface
Task
Method
Daily
Vacuum with soft brush head or dry sweep — the embossed channels collect fine dust more readily than smooth or lightly textured floors; vacuum along the grain direction for best results.
Weekly
Damp mop with well-wrung cloth and pH-neutral wood floor cleaner for oiled floors — no standing water; wax oil is not waterproof; the embossed open-grain channels are absorbent.
Spills
Wipe immediately — the embossed channels can absorb liquids rapidly; prompt wiping prevents staining in the channel floors and chemically treated zones.
Spot repair
Lightly abrade the worn or marked area with 240-grit paper along the grain and re-apply wax oil — the embossed texture variation means local repairs blend seamlessly.
Full re-oil
Every 1–3 years — AMUER Floor Care Wax Oil or compatible hardwax oil; the embossed open grain absorbs oil particularly well and the re-oiling process is especially effective on this surface; oil penetrates the full channel depth.
Never
Steam mop · abrasive cleaners · bleach · solvent-based products · UV lacquer products · re-lacquering over wax oil

FAQ
Q1. What is embossed and chemically treated oak wide plank engineered flooring?
Embossed and chemically treated oak wide plank engineered flooring is an engineered hardwood floor with a solid European oak wear layer that has been processed by mechanical embossment — which presses structured relief into the board face so that the grain becomes a three-dimensional landscape of ridges and channels — and chemical treatment, which opens the grain pores and introduces controlled tonal variation. AMUER AH-08 is 220mm wide, 2,200mm long, 15/4mm total thickness with a 4mm solid oak wear layer, DE grade, embossed surface, chemical treatment, wax oil finish, and click installation.
Q2. What is the difference between embossed and brushed oak flooring?
Brushed oak flooring uses wire brushing — an abrasive process — to remove soft early-wood fibres and reveal the harder late-wood grain as a raised texture; embossed oak flooring uses mechanical pressure to press structured relief directly into the board face, creating a more consistent and controllable texture depth. In practical terms: brushed oak has an organic, variable texture that follows the natural grain variation of each board. Embossed oak has a more precise, consistent relief pattern that is uniform board to board — the grain structure is imposed rather than revealed. AH-08 combines embossment with chemical treatment, giving it both structural texture consistency and natural colour complexity.
Q3. What does chemical treatment do to oak flooring?
Chemical treatment is a surface process that reacts with the natural compounds in oak — tannins, cellulose, lignin — to open the grain pores, alter the surface oxidation state, and introduce controlled tonal variation across the board face. It is not a stain: the colour variation is developed from within the wood structure by chemical reaction, not by depositing colour on top of the surface. In AH-08, chemical treatment creates subtle tonal depth — the early-wood zones read at a slightly different tone from the late-wood ridges — and makes the grain structure more vivid and legible across the board face.
Q4. Why is wax oil used on AH-08 rather than UV lacquer?
Wax oil is used on AH-08 because a UV lacquer surface film would partially fill the embossed channels, reducing the shadow depth and three-dimensional relief that the embossment process creates — wax oil penetrates the wood fibre without forming a surface film, leaving every embossed channel and ridge completely open and unobstructed. The embossed and chemically treated surface of AH-08 is the product's defining characteristic. Applying UV lacquer over it would preserve the surface but diminish the very texture depth that distinguishes AH-08. Wax oil on embossed chemically treated oak is the combination that fully honours the process: the oil deepens the sandy-gold tone, enriches the chemical treatment character, and fills the embossed channels from within while leaving them completely tactile.
Q5. Can AH-08 be used over underfloor heating?
Yes — AH-08 is compatible with both hydronic and electric underfloor heating, maximum surface temperature 27°C. Wax oil handles UFH thermal cycling well and does not crack under heat stress. The embossed open-grain surface absorbs wax oil particularly well during periodic re-oiling. Maintain indoor humidity at 40–65% RH year-round.
Q6. How do I maintain the wax oil finish on AH-08?
Wax oil on AH-08 requires periodic full re-oiling every 1–3 years, frequent vacuuming (the embossed channels collect dust more readily than shallow-brush or smooth floors), weekly damp mopping with pH-neutral wood cleaner, and immediate spill wiping. The embossed channels are more absorbent than a smooth surface — prompt spill wiping is especially important. Spot repair is straightforward on AH-08: abrade the worn area with 240-grit paper along the grain and re-apply wax oil locally; the texture variation means local repairs blend naturally. Full re-oiling is particularly effective on embossed surfaces as the oil penetrates the full channel depth.
Q7. Can AH-08 be sanded and refinished?
Yes — AH-08 has a 4mm solid oak wear layer supporting 3–4 full sanding and refinishing cycles over the floor's lifespan. After sanding, AH-08 can be re-embossed at the correct depth to restore the relief texture, re-chemically treated to restore the tonal character, and re-finished with wax oil to restore the full specification. The re-embossment and re-treatment steps require specialist equipment — this should be discussed with the refinishing specialist before work starts.
Q8. What is the minimum order for AH-08?
The standard minimum order for AMUER AH-08 is 200 m² per SKU from our China factory. Free samples are available — email arboren@arboren.com. The embossed texture, chemical treatment character, and sandy-gold wax oil tone of AH-08 are qualities that are significantly better understood from the physical sample than from photographs. Samples dispatched to EU,  Australian, and most international addresses within 4-5 business days.
