Natural American Walnut 90mm Long Plank Engineered Flooring — AW-01
AW-01 is a 90mm long plank engineered American walnut floor in ABC select-to-character grade with a natural smooth surface finished in UV lacquer: 15/2mm multi-layer construction with a 2mm solid American walnut wear layer, click floating installation. The UV lacquer finish seals and protects the natural walnut surface with a clear, hard-wearing coat that enhances the wood's rich chocolate-brown tone and preserves the dramatic natural grain movement — the defining visual quality of American walnut as a flooring species.
American walnut (Juglans nigra) is among the most visually dramatic hardwoods available in flooring: the heartwood runs from a rich chocolate-brown to deep espresso, with swirling, interlocked grain patterns and a natural lustre that no other flooring species replicates. The ABC grade of AW-01 captures the full range of this colour and character — from lighter, straighter-grained sapwood at the paler end to the deep, swirling chocolate heartwood that makes walnut instantly recognisable — with consistent, furniture-quality boards that are free from open defects. The natural surface treatment preserves this character without any tonal modification: what you see is the American walnut exactly as it grows, sealed under a hard UV lacquer finish that is durable, low-maintenance, and long-lasting.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW · AW-01 NATURAL AMERICAN WALNUT
AW-01 is a natural American walnut long plank engineered floor combining ABC select-to-character grade with a smooth natural surface and UV lacquer finish, in a 90mm wide click format. The result is a floor that delivers the full visual drama of American walnut — its chocolate-brown heartwood, swirling interlocked grain, and heartwood-to-sapwood colour range — in a practical, durable, easy-maintenance format suitable for both residential and commercial projects.
American walnut is one of the few hardwood flooring species that requires no surface modification to achieve a contemporary, design-led appearance. The natural colour of the heartwood — a rich, warm chocolate-brown with red and purple undertones that deepen over time — is among the most distinctive and recognisable in hardwood flooring. The ABC grade of AW-01 showcases this colour across the full board range: at one end, pale honey-tan sapwood with straight, fine grain; at the other, deep espresso heartwood with the dramatic swirling, interlocked grain movement that makes walnut immediately identifiable. Between these extremes, the ABC grade produces boards that vary across the full walnut colour spectrum — no two boards identical, every board clearly and unmistakably walnut.
The natural surface treatment preserves this character without modification. There is no smoking to deepen the tone, no chemical treatment to shift the colour, no scraping or embossing to add artificial texture. AW-01 presents American walnut as it is: a naturally dark, naturally dramatic, naturally beautiful hardwood species. The UV lacquer finish seals this surface with a hard, clear factory coat — protecting the walnut from everyday wear, staining, and moisture without altering its natural colour or lustre.
Installation & Room Suitability
Click Installation (Floating)
AW-01 uses Uniclic-compatible click floating installation with a square edge that creates a seamless, flush joint at every board boundary. No adhesive required — click lock floating installation.
· Subfloor flatness: 3mm per 2m maximum
· Expansion gap at all walls: minimum 10mm
· 48-hour acclimatisation at room temperature before installation
· Stagger end joints: minimum 300mm between adjacent rows
· Install with grain direction along longest room dimension
· Square edge creates flush seamless joint — do not fill or caulk
Underfloor Heating
AW-01 is compatible with both hydronic and electric UFH. UV lacquer finish is less moisture-sensitive than wax oil, making AW-01 a practical choice for UFH environments.
· Maximum surface temperature: 27°C (hydronic and electric)
· Switch off heating 48 hours before installation
· After installation: increase 1–2°C per day to target temperature
· Maintain indoor humidity 45–60% RH year-round

Bathrooms | Not Recommended | Not suitable for wet environments — specify SPC or tile flooring for bathrooms.
Care & Maintenance — UV Lacquer on Natural Walnut
| Task | Method | ||
| Daily | Dry sweep or vacuum with soft brush head along the grain direction. UV lacquer is a sealed surface — regular sweeping prevents fine grit from scratching the lacquer coat. The dark walnut tone shows dust more readily than lighter floors; daily light sweeping keeps the floor looking its best. | ||
| Weekly | Damp mop with well-wrung cloth and pH-neutral hardwood floor cleaner — no excessive water, no steam mop, no standing water. UV lacquer is more water-resistant than wax oil but should not be saturated. | ||
| Spills | Wipe immediately with a dry cloth. UV lacquer resists most household liquids effectively; prompt action prevents staining at board joints. | ||
Square edge joints | The square edge creates a flush seamless joint — do not fill or caulk. Clean joints with vacuum brush attachment; do not force water into the joint.
Periodic maintenance | UV lacquer does not require periodic re-oiling. Maintain the surface by buffing with a manufacturer-approved hardwood floor polish every 6–12 months to restore gloss and surface protection.
Scratches | Surface scratches in UV lacquer can be addressed with a manufacturer-matched lacquer repair pen for minor marks. Deep scratches require professional sanding and lacquer recoating.
Never | Steam mop · standing water · caulking square edge joints · standard household cleaners · bleach or acid cleaners · wax oil or penetrating oil products on lacquered surface · abrasive pads · silicone-based polishes.

FAQ
Q1. What is natural American walnut engineered flooring?
Natural American walnut engineered flooring is a multi-layer engineered hardwood floor with a solid American walnut (Juglans nigra) wear layer, cross-ply core, and a clear UV lacquer finish — no tonal modification, no surface treatment other than the factory lacquer coat. AMUER AW-01 is 90mm wide, 1,900mm long, 15/2mm total thickness with a 2mm solid American walnut wear layer, ABC natural character grade, smooth natural surface, square edge, UV lacquer finish, and click floating installation.
Q2. How does American walnut change colour over time?
American walnut (Juglans nigra) undergoes natural photosensitive patination over time: the rich chocolate-brown heartwood lightens slightly and the lighter sapwood deepens, gradually moving the ABC grade colour range toward a more unified, medium-warm brown over years of use and light exposure. This is a natural process driven by the wood's photosensitivity — it occurs beneath the UV lacquer and is irreversible. Many specifiers consider the patination of American walnut a desirable characteristic; it produces a more unified, antique character over time. To slow patination, use rugs and blinds to reduce direct sunlight on the floor.
Q3. Can AW-01 be used over underfloor heating?
Yes — AW-01 engineered hardwood flooring is compatible with both hydronic and electric underfloor heating systems, with a maximum recommended surface temperature of 27°C. The multi-layer engineered construction resists dimensional movement under heating cycles. UV lacquer finish is more stable under heating cycles than wax oil; maintain 45–60% RH year-round. Switch off heating 48 hours before installation and restart gradually, increasing by 1–2°C per day.
Q4. Should square edge joints be filled or sealed?
No — the square edge joints on AW-01 should not be filled or caulked. The square edge creates a flush, seamless joint that is part of the floor's appearance. For cleaning, vacuum joints with a soft brush attachment along the joint direction to remove fine debris. Do not force water or cleaning solution into the joint.
Q5. How do you maintain UV lacquer walnut flooring?
UV lacquer walnut flooring requires regular dry sweeping, weekly damp mopping with a pH-neutral hardwood floor cleaner, and periodic buffing with a manufacturer-approved hardwood floor polish every 6–12 months to restore gloss and surface protection. UV lacquer does not require periodic re-oiling — a significant maintenance advantage over wax oil or natural oil finishes. Avoid steam mops, standing water, wax or oil products, and silicone-based polishes.
Q6. Can AW-01 be sanded and refinished?
AW-01 has a 2mm solid American walnut wear layer. This supports 1–2 light sanding cycles over the floor's lifespan, depending on the depth of sanding required. After sanding, the floor can be refinished in UV lacquer, natural oil, or wax oil. Full refinishing should be carried out by a professional. For minor surface scratches, a manufacturer-matched lacquer repair pen can address marks without requiring full sanding.
Q7. What is the minimum order for AW-01?
The standard minimum order for AMUER AW-01 is 200 m² per SKU from our China factory. Free samples are available — email arboren@arboren.com. Samples are dispatched to EU, Australian, and most international addresses within 4-5 business days. OEM orders based on AW-01 specification available from 200 m² MOQ.
