Natural Character Brushed Oak 190mm Wide Plank Engineered Flooring — NC-01
Natural Character Brushed Oak 190mm Wide Plank Engineered Flooring — NC-01
NC-01 is a 190mm wide plank engineered oak floor in DE natural character grade with a brushed surface and UV lacquer finish: 14/3mm 3-layer construction with a 3mm solid European oak wear layer, click floating installation. No colour modification, no smoke treatment, no staining — NC-01 presents European oak in its natural honey-sand colour, the warmest and most open of the AMUER oak range, with the full character of DE grade displayed at the maximum drama of 190mm wide plank format.
The DE grade of NC-01 is the defining element: one grade below the maximum DEF, DE selects for high natural character — significant knots (open, filled, and black), checks, splits, pronounced grain movement and figure, and the full heartwood-to-sapwood colour variation of European oak. At 190mm wide, each board is a generous canvas of this character. The brushed surface opens the soft early-wood fibres to reveal the late-wood grain relief. The UV lacquer seals the natural oak colour and brushed texture under a hard, clear factory coat — durable, low-maintenance, and long-lasting.
NC-01 is the natural rustic wide plank oak floor: unmodified in colour, maximum in character, generous in width, and protected by UV lacquer for practical everyday durability.

Colour
NC-01 Natural Oak — warm honey-sand; the natural unmodified colour of European oak heartwood and sapwood; pale cream-beige heartwood with warm golden-honey undertones; sapwood ranges from near-white to pale straw; no smoke, stain, pigment, oil tint, or chemical modification; the natural oak colour exactly as it comes from the saw, sealed under UV lacquer; European oak lightens slightly and develops warm golden patination over time with light exposure
Surface Treatment
Natural + Brushed — two elements: (1) Natural: no colour or chemical surface modification; the oak surface is presented in its sawn and lightly planed state; (2) Brushed: wire or nylon brushes remove the soft early-wood fibres, leaving the harder late-wood grain lines in raised tactile relief across the surface — the brushed texture follows the natural oak grain anatomy and adds depth and shadow to the natural colour without modifying it
Finish
UV Lacquer — hard, clear factory-applied finish; fully seals the natural oak colour and brushed texture; scratch and stain resistant; easy daily maintenance; no periodic re-oiling required; consistent sheen across the floor; preserves the natural honey-sand oak colour under a durable clear protective coat
Grading
DE — High Natural Character Grade: open knots (some unfilled), filled knots, black knots, checks and splits, pronounced grain movement and figure, strong heartwood-to-sapwood colour variation; one grade below the maximum DEF; the DE grade at 190mm wide plank format produces a floor of exceptional natural drama — every board distinctly individual with the full natural anatomy of European oak on display
Edge Profile
Square Edge — flush board-to-board joint; the natural colour and brushed texture visually define each 190mm board without a bevel; the wide format reads as generous and open without a bevelled shadow line

PRODUCT OVERVIEW · NC-01 NATURAL CHARACTER BRUSHED OAK
NC-01 occupies a specific and deliberately defined position in the AMUER range: it is the natural, unmodified, wide-plank, high-character oak floor. Every specification decision pushes toward a single outcome — presenting European oak exactly as it grows, at maximum scale, with maximum character.
The colour decision is the foundation: no smoke treatment, no staining, no pigmenting, no oil tinting. NC-01 presents European oak in its natural honey-sand colour — the warm, pale, golden-cream tone that is the species' defining visual quality and the most versatile neutral in hardwood flooring. The natural oak colour of NC-01 is the starting point from which all other AMUER oak products are modified — DS-01 smokes it to near-black, DS-02 smokes and embosses it, other products tint or treat it. NC-01 is the oak itself.
The 190mm wide plank format sets the scale at which this natural colour and DE character is displayed: at 190mm wide, each board is a generous canvas of European oak anatomy. The DE grade character fills this canvas fully — open knots, black knots, filled knots, checks, splits, pronounced grain movement, swirling figure, and the full heartwood-to-sapwood colour range from near-white sapwood to warm honey-gold heartwood. No two NC-01 boards are identical. The floor reads as a collection of individually characterful oak planks rather than a uniform surface.
The brushed surface and UV lacquer finish complete the specification. The brushing opens the grain into a tactile relief without modifying the colour. The UV lacquer seals the natural colour and brushed texture with a hard, practical factory coat — protecting the natural oak without obscuring it, and requiring no periodic maintenance re-oiling. The result is a genuinely natural, genuinely characterful, genuinely wide European oak floor with the practical durability of UV lacquer protection.
Design Guide
NC-01's natural honey-sand colour, 190mm wide plank scale, DE character grade, and UV lacquer convenience place it across the warmest, most versatile, and most widely specified positions in the design spectrum:
Japandi & Warm Scandinavian
NC-01's natural pale honey-sand is the quintessential Japandi and warm Scandinavian floor colour: light enough to maximise the sense of space, warm enough to avoid coldness, and natural enough to read as authentic material rather than a designed finish. The DE character adds the natural imperfection and individual board identity that Japandi aesthetics prize.
Farmhouse & Country Rustic
NC-01 is a natural specification for farmhouse and country rustic interiors: the DE grade open knots, checks, and character grain read as genuinely aged and naturally rustic alongside stone walls, exposed beams, terracotta tiles, and traditional painted joinery. The 190mm wide plank scale is proportionally correct for larger, generous farmhouse rooms.
Contemporary Warm & Family Modern
For contemporary warm and family modern interiors — open-plan kitchen-dining-living spaces, family homes, new-build contemporary — NC-01's natural oak colour is the most versatile and practically durable option: UV lacquer convenience, natural warm tone that works with any palette, and DE character that adds individuality without demanding a specific design direction.
Installation & Room Suitability
Click Installation (Floating)
NC-01 uses Uniclic-compatible click floating installation. The 190mm wide plank format requires a larger expansion gap and extended acclimatisation compared to narrower boards.

· Subfloor flatness: 3mm per 2m maximum — critical for 190mm wide plank
· Expansion gap: minimum 12mm at all walls and fixed objects
· Acclimatise 48–72 hours at room temperature before installation
· Stagger end joints: minimum 400mm between adjacent rows
· Install with grain direction along longest room dimension
· Do not fill or caulk square edge joints
· Maintain indoor humidity 45–60% RH year-round
Underfloor Heating
NC-01 is compatible with both hydronic and electric underfloor heating. The 190mm wide plank and UV lacquer finish are stable under UFH cycles with consistent humidity management.
· Maximum surface temperature: 27°C
· Switch off heating 48–72 hours before installation
· Restart: increase 1–2°C per day to target temperature
· Maintain indoor humidity 45–60% RH year-round
· UV lacquer is stable under UFH heating cycles
· Thermal resistance: 0.15 m²K/W maximum

Notes
Farmhouse & Country Traditional
Exceptional
NC-01's natural honey-sand colour, DE character knots and checks, and 190mm wide plank format are the defining combination for farmhouse and country traditional interiors. The natural oak reads as genuine, aged, and materially authentic alongside stone walls, exposed beams, and traditional joinery.
Scandinavian & Japandi Interiors
Exceptional
The natural pale honey-sand colour of NC-01 is perfectly aligned with the Scandinavian and Japandi palette: pale walls, natural linen, rattan, and pale oak furniture. The DE character adds natural warmth and individuality; the UV lacquer provides low-maintenance practicality.
Living Rooms & Open-Plan Spaces
Exceptional
The 190mm wide plank creates a bold, materially generous living room floor. The natural honey-sand colour is the most versatile neutral in hardwood flooring — it works with virtually every wall colour and furniture palette.
Family Kitchens & Dining Rooms
Excellent
Natural pale oak is the most popular flooring choice for family kitchen and dining environments. UV lacquer resists spills and is easy to maintain. The DE grade character adds warmth and authenticity.
Bedrooms
Excellent
Warm honey-sand oak creates a calm, natural bedroom environment. UV lacquer is low-maintenance in bedroom use.
Period Property & Heritage
Excellent
The DE grade character of NC-01 — open knots, checks, splits — reads as authentically aged and appropriate in period and heritage residential contexts without requiring any artificial ageing treatment.
Hallways
Very Good
UV lacquer handles hallway traffic well. Natural pale colour shows grit and dirt; regular sweeping essential.
Bathrooms / Wet Areas
Not Recommended
Not suitable for wet environments.
Care & Maintenance — Natural Brushed Oak UV Lacquer Wide Plank
Task
Method
Daily
Dry sweep or vacuum with soft brush head along the grain direction. The natural pale honey-sand colour of NC-01 shows dark grit, soil, and debris readily — regular daily sweeping is the most important maintenance step. Always sweep along the grain to avoid pushing debris into the brushed texture relief.
Weekly
Damp mop with well-wrung cloth and pH-neutral hardwood floor cleaner. No steam mop, no excessive water, no standing water. UV lacquer is fully sealed — the natural oak colour and brushed texture are protected by the lacquer coat.
Spills
Wipe immediately with a dry cloth. UV lacquer resists most household liquids effectively at the surface. Prompt action prevents penetration at board joints or into open knots in the DE grade surface.
Open knots & checks
Open knots and natural checks in the DE grade surface should be vacuumed with a soft brush attachment to remove accumulated dust and debris. Do not force water or cleaning products into open knots. The UV lacquer seals the surrounding surface — the knot voids themselves are natural features and stable under normal conditions.
Brushed surface
Vacuum with soft brush attachment along grain direction. Do not use abrasive scrubbers on the brushed surface.
Periodic maintenance
UV lacquer requires no periodic re-oiling. Buff with a manufacturer-approved hardwood floor polish every 6–12 months to restore surface gloss and protection.
Scratches
Minor surface scratches: manufacturer-matched lacquer repair pen. Deep scratches: professional sanding and lacquer recoating. Note: natural pale oak colour means scratches through to bare wood may be more visible than on darker floors — address promptly.
Never
Steam mop · standing water · bleach or acid cleaners · abrasive pads · oil or wax products on lacquered surface · silicone-based polishes · filling open knots with caulk or sealant.

FAQ
Q1. What is natural character brushed oak engineered flooring?
Natural character brushed oak engineered flooring (NC-01) is a 190mm wide plank engineered hardwood floor with a solid European oak wear layer, 3-layer cross-ply core, natural unmodified oak colour, brushed grain surface texture, and UV lacquer finish. Natural means no colour modification — no smoke treatment, no staining, no pigmenting, no oil tinting — the oak is presented in its natural honey-sand colour. Brushed means the soft early-wood fibres have been removed to reveal the late-wood grain lines in tactile relief. UV lacquer seals both the natural colour and brushed texture under a hard, clear, low-maintenance factory coat. NC-01 is 14/3mm total thickness with a 3mm solid oak wear layer in DE high character grade, Click floating installation.
Q2. What is DE grade in European oak flooring?
DE grade (also called Rustic or High Character grade) is a high natural character grading level that accepts open knots (some unfilled), filled knots, black knots, natural checks and splits, pronounced grain movement and figure, and the full heartwood-to-sapwood colour range of European oak. At 190mm wide plank (NC-01), DE grade produces a floor where every board is individually characterful — significant knots visible at full scale, natural checks and colour variation clear across the board width. DE grade is one step below the maximum DEF grade; it accepts open character features but maintains a level of board quality and consistency above the most rustic DEF selection.
Q3.  Will NC-01's natural oak colour change over time?
Yes — European oak in natural unmodified colour undergoes gradual photosensitive patination with light exposure. NC-01's natural honey-sand colour deepens and warms toward a richer, more amber-golden tone over the first year or two of light exposure, after which the colour stabilises. This patination is a natural and widely valued quality of natural-finish oak — the floor becomes warmer and richer with time, developing the character of aged wood. UV lacquer does not prevent this natural patination, which occurs in the wood below the lacquer coat. To maintain an even patination across the floor, avoid leaving rugs or furniture in fixed positions for extended periods during the first year.
Q4. How do open knots in NC-01 DE grade behave in use?
Open knots in the DE grade surface of NC-01 are natural features that are stable under normal indoor conditions — they do not grow, split further, or cause structural issues in normal residential or commercial use. Open knots should be vacuumed with a soft brush attachment to remove accumulated dust and debris. Do not force water or cleaning products into open knots; the UV lacquer seals the surrounding surface effectively. If an open knot causes concern, it can be filled with a manufacturer-matched wood filler — though many specifiers and end users prefer to leave open knots unfilled as a natural feature of the DE grade character.
Q5. Can NC-01 be used over underfloor heating?
Yes — NC-01 3-layer engineered construction is compatible with both hydronic and electric underfloor heating. The 190mm wide plank format requires consistent humidity management when used with UFH: maintain indoor humidity at 45–60% RH year-round and do not exceed 27°C surface temperature. UV lacquer is stable under heating cycles. Switch off heating 48–72 hours before installation; restart gradually at 1–2°C per day.
Q6. How does UV lacquer on NC-01 compare to natural oil on AM-01?
NC-01 (UV lacquer) and AM-01 (natural oil) use the same 190mm wide plank natural oak format but with different finishes. UV lacquer (NC-01) forms a hard surface coat: more scratch-resistant, more water-resistant, easier daily maintenance, no periodic re-oiling required. Natural oil (AM-01) penetrates the wood fibres: softer, warmer, more matte appearance; requires periodic re-oiling every 12–18 months; easier to spot-repair; develops a richer patina over time. Specify UV lacquer (NC-01) for low-maintenance practicality in family and commercial environments. Specify natural oil (AM-01) for the warmest, most natural-feeling wood surface and traditional oil-finish depth.
Q7. What is the minimum order for NC-01?
Standard MOQ is 200 m² per SKU from our China factory. Free samples available — email arboren@arboren.com. Samples dispatched within 4-5 business days to EU,  Australian and most international addresses. OEM orders based on NC-01 specification available from 200 m² MOQ.
