220mm Wide Plank Antique Oak Wax Oil Engineered Flooring — AH-07
220mm Wide Plank Antique Oak Wax Oil Engineered Flooring — AH-07
AH-07 is a 220mm wide plank engineered oak floor in DE natural character grade with four compounding surface treatments — embossment, chemical treatment, broken edge, and wax oil finish — and a 15/4mm 3-layer construction with a 4mm solid European oak wear layer, click floating installation. At 220mm wide and 2,200mm long, AH-07 is the widest and longest standard long plank in the AMUER oak range: each board is a generous canvas of DE character oak, and the four-treatment surface specification produces the most technically complex antique character in the range.
The combination of embossment (pressed grain texture), chemical treatment (subtle tonal enhancement of the natural honey-gold oak colour), broken edge (hand-crafted irregular board edge profile), and wax oil finish (penetrating warmth and matte depth) produces a floor that reads as genuinely aged and antique — not artificially distressed, but treated and finished in ways that accelerate the natural character processes that make old oak floors so valued. AH-07 is the specification for spaces where a grand, aged, materially generous antique oak floor is the design brief.

Colour
AH-07 Antique Oak — warm honey-gold, enhanced by chemical treatment; the natural European oak honey-sand base colour is subtly warmed and deepened by the chemical treatment process, producing a richer, more amber-gold tone than untreated natural oak; the chemical treatment evens the heartwood-to-sapwood colour range slightly, reducing the palest sapwood contrast while enriching the heartwood warmth; DE grade full colour variation remains clearly visible; wax oil deepens and enriches this enhanced colour further
Surface Treatment
Three surface treatments are applied before wax oil finishing: embossment adds mechanically pressed grain texture for tactile relief and shadow depth; chemical treatment subtly warms and deepens the natural honey-gold colour while reducing sapwood-to-heartwood contrast; and broken edge lightly distresses the long board edges to replicate the worn, chamfered profile of genuinely aged oak floorboards, creating a subtle shadow line between boards.
Finish
Wax Oil — penetrating natural oil and wax blend; seeps into the oak fibres to enhance and protect the chemically treated, embossed surface; deepens the warm amber-gold colour further; produces a warm, low-sheen matte finish; tactile, natural feel underfoot; the wax oil finish completes and unifies the three surface treatments beneath it; requires periodic maintenance re-oiling every 12–18 months
Grading
DE — High Natural Character Grade: open knots, filled knots, black knots, checks, splits, pronounced grain movement and figure, full heartwood-to-sapwood colour variation; at 220mm wide and 2,200mm long, DE grade boards display exceptional natural character at generous scale
Edge Profile
Broken Edge — each board has a lightly hand-distressed edge profile rather than a machined straight edge; the broken edge creates a subtle shadow line between boards that adds visual depth to the wide plank format and replicates the appearance of worn, aged floorboards

PRODUCT OVERVIEW · AH-07 ANTIQUE OAK 220mm WIDE PLANK
AH-07 represents the most ambitious specification in the AMUER oak wide plank range: 220mm wide, 2,200mm long, DE character grade, four surface treatments, and wax oil finish. Every dimension and treatment decision compounds toward a single outcome — a floor that delivers the visual and tactile experience of a genuinely antique, aged European oak floor in a modern engineered hardwood product.
The 220mm × 2,200mm board dimension is the starting point. At 220mm wide and 2,200mm long, AH-07 boards are the largest individual planks in the AMUER range — each board is a generous, continuous panel of European oak that reads as bold, grand, and period-proportioned. The scale alone creates a floor of distinction; the DE character grade fills that scale with natural knots, figure, grain movement, and colour variation at a size that smaller board formats cannot achieve.
The three surface treatments — embossment, chemical treatment, and broken edge — build on this foundation in sequence. The embossment adds tactile grain relief across the wide surface. The chemical treatment warms and unifies the honey-gold tone, reducing the starkest sapwood contrast while preserving the full DE character variation. The broken edge distresses the board edges to replicate the worn, chamfered appearance of genuinely aged floorboards — the detail that most distinguishes AH-07's appearance from a standard wide plank floor. The wax oil finish seals and deepens all three treatments, adding penetrating warmth, matte depth, and the natural tactile feel of an aged, oiled wood surface.
Design Guide
AH-07's grand 220mm × 2,200mm scale, four-treatment antique character, amber-gold wax oil warmth, and broken edge profile place it firmly in period, heritage, and grand traditional interior contexts:
Grand Country House & Heritage AH-07
Grand Country House & Heritage
AH-07 is the specification for grand country house, stately home, and château interiors: deep botanical greens, aged stone and plaster walls, antique timber joinery, stone fireplaces, and period furniture. The 220mm broken-edge wide plank reads as a floor that belongs in rooms with high ceilings and generous proportions — it is the most grand and period-appropriate floor in the AMUER range.
Period Property Renovation AH-07
Period Property Renovation
For Georgian, Victorian, Arts & Crafts, and inter-war period property renovation, AH-07's broken edge, embossed grain, chemically treated warmth, and wax oil depth produce a floor that reads as a restored original — wide-plank antique oak appropriate to the scale and character of the building.
Installation & Room Suitability
Click Installation (Floating)
AH-07 requires more careful installation preparation than narrower formats. At 220mm wide and 2,200mm long, the boards are the largest in the AMUER range and require the most generous expansion gap and longest acclimatisation.

· Subfloor flatness: 3mm per 2m maximum — critical for 220mm wide plank
· Expansion gap: minimum 15mm at all walls and fixed objects
· Acclimatise 48–72 hours at room temperature — essential for large-format boards
· Stagger end joints: minimum 500mm between adjacent rows
· Install with grain direction along the longest room dimension
· Broken edge joints: do not fill or caulk — the broken edge is a design feature
· Maintain 45–60% RH during and after installation
Underfloor Heating
AH-07 is compatible with UFH with careful humidity and temperature management. The combination of 220mm wide plank, 4mm wear layer, and wax oil finish requires the most consistent environmental conditions of any product in the range.

· Maximum surface temperature: 27°C — do not exceed
· Switch off heating 72 hours before installation
· Restart: increase 1°C per day maximum to target temperature
· Maintain 45–60% RH year-round — non-negotiable at 220mm width
· Wax oil is more moisture-sensitive than UV lacquer — humidity is critical
· Thermal resistance: 0.15 m²K/W maximum

Notes
Grand Living Rooms & Reception Rooms
Exceptional
AH-07's 220mm × 2,200mm board scale, four-treatment antique character, and wax oil warmth are purpose-built for grand living rooms and reception rooms. The floor reads as a period-proportioned, materially generous antique oak surface — appropriate in rooms with high ceilings, period joinery, and large furniture.
Period Property & Heritage Renovation
Exceptional
AH-07 is the defining specification for period property renovation where an authentic, aged wide-plank oak floor is the brief. The broken edge, embossed grain, chemical treatment warmth, and wax oil depth produce a floor that is indistinguishable from a genuinely antique reclaimed wide plank at normal viewing distance.
Country Houses & Château Interiors
Excellent
The grand scale (220mm × 2,200mm), antique treatments, and wax oil depth make AH-07 the natural specification for country house, château, and luxury estate interiors where floor scale and antique character are primary design requirements.
Dining Rooms
Excellent
Wide plank antique oak creates a materially generous dining room floor appropriate for large dining tables and period dining furniture. Wax oil is easy to spot-repair in dining environments.
Boutique Hospitality
Excellent
For boutique hotels, private members clubs, and high-end hospitality environments seeking an authentic antique oak floor appearance with practical engineered hardwood performance, AH-07 is a first-choice specification.
Hallways of Large Properties
Good with care
Wax oil requires more maintenance in high-traffic hallways; re-oil cycle may shorten to 6–9 months in entrance hallways. The broken edge and antique character read as appropriate in the hallways of period and grand properties.
Smaller Rooms / Apartments
Consider carefully
AH-07's 220mm width and grand antique character are designed for larger rooms. In smaller apartments or rooms under 25 m², the board scale may overwhelm the space. Consider NC-01 (190mm) or other narrower formats for compact spaces.
Bathrooms
Not Recommended
Not suitable for persistent moisture.
Care & Maintenance — Antique Oak Wide Plank Wax Oil
Task
Method
Daily
Dry sweep or vacuum with soft brush head along the grain direction. The warm amber-gold colour of AH-07 shows fine dust and grit readily at 220mm width — the large board surface is clearly visible. Regular daily sweeping maintains the wax oil surface and prevents grit from abrading the wax oil coat or embossed texture.
Weekly
Damp mop with well-wrung cloth and compatible wax oil floor cleaner — never standard household cleaners, lacquer-formulated products, or excessive water. Wax oil is a surface-open finish; AH-07 is more moisture-sensitive than UV lacquer products. No steam mop, no standing water.
Spills
Wipe immediately with a dry cloth. The wax component provides short-term surface resistance; prompt action essential. Dried spills may require spot cleaning with compatible cleaner and spot re-oiling.
Broken edge joints
Vacuum with soft brush attachment along grain direction to remove debris from the irregular broken edge joint. Do not fill, caulk, or seal broken edge joints — they are a design feature of AH-07. Do not force water or cleaning products into the broken edge joint.
Spot re-oiling
Any area showing dryness or loss of colour depth: lightly abrade with fine (180-grit) sandpaper, apply compatible maintenance wax oil with a cloth, allow to absorb and dry, buff lightly.
Periodic re-oiling
Full floor re-oiling every 12–18 months residential; 6–12 months in higher-traffic areas. Clean floor thoroughly, allow to dry fully, apply compatible maintenance wax oil, allow to absorb and cure 24 hours before foot traffic. The antique character of AH-07 deepens and improves with each maintenance re-oiling.
Open knots
Vacuum with soft brush attachment to remove accumulated dust from open knots in the DE grade surface. Do not force water or cleaning products into open knots.
Never
Steam mop · standing water · UV lacquer maintenance products · standard household cleaners · bleach or acid cleaners · silicone-based polishes · abrasive scrubbers · filling or caulking broken edge joints or open knots with standard caulk.

FAQ
Q1. What is broken edge wide plank antique oak engineered flooring?
Broken edge wide plank antique oak engineered flooring (AH-07) is a 220mm × 2,200mm wide plank engineered hardwood floor with a 4mm solid European oak wear layer, three sequential surface treatments (embossment, chemical treatment, broken edge), and a wax oil finish. The broken edge is a lightly distressed board edge profile — each board's long edge is hand-dressed to an irregular, worn profile rather than a machined straight edge, replicating the chamfered, worn edges of genuinely antique oak floorboards. AH-07 is 15/4mm total thickness with a 3-layer construction in DE high character grade with Click floating installation.
Q2. What is chemical treatment on oak flooring?
Chemical treatment on oak flooring refers to a controlled chemical process applied to the oak surface before finishing that subtly modifies the natural colour. On AH-07, the chemical treatment warms and deepens the natural honey-sand oak colour toward a richer amber-gold, and slightly reduces the most extreme contrast between pale sapwood and warm heartwood boards. The treatment uses the natural reactivity of the oak's tannin content to produce a colour modification that is more deeply integrated into the wood surface than a surface stain or pigment coat. The chemical treatment of AH-07 is a subtle enhancement — the natural DE grade character, knots, and grain variation remain fully visible; the treatment adds warmth and tonal unification rather than a dramatic color change.
Q3. How does the broken edge affect cleaning and maintenance?
The broken edge on AH-07 creates an irregular, slightly recessed joint between boards rather than the flush square edge joint of standard wide plank floors. For cleaning, vacuum along the grain direction with a soft brush attachment to remove debris from the broken edge joint — do not force water or cleaning products into the joint. Do not fill or caulk broken edge joints: the broken edge is a design feature of AH-07 and filling it would destroy the antique character. For re-oiling, the wax oil maintenance product should be applied across the full board including the broken edge, where it absorbs naturally.
Q4. Can AH-07 be used in smaller rooms?
AH-07's 220mm × 2,200mm board dimension and grand antique character are designed for larger rooms — ideally rooms of 25 m² or larger where the board scale reads as proportionate and generous. In smaller rooms (under 20 m²), the 220mm wide plank can visually dominate the space and may read as oversized. For smaller rooms or apartments requiring a similar antique oak character, consider NC-01 (190mm wide plank, UV lacquer) or a narrower DE grade format. For rooms between 20–25 m², AH-07 can work well if installed along the longest room dimension to maximise the visual effect of the long 2,200mm boards.
Q5. Can AH-07 be installed over underfloor heating?
Yes — AH-07 is compatible with both hydronic and electric underfloor heating with careful installation and environmental management. The combination of 220mm wide plank, 4mm wear layer, and wax oil finish makes AH-07 the most demanding product in the range in terms of humidity management. Maintain indoor humidity at 45–60% RH year-round without exception. Maximum surface temperature 27°C. Switch off heating 72 hours before installation; restart at a maximum of 1°C per day. Wax oil finish is more moisture-sensitive than UV lacquer — fluctuating humidity is the primary risk factor for wide plank wax oil floors.
Q6. How many times can AH-07 be sanded and refinished?
AH-07 has a 4mm solid European oak wear layer, supporting 2–3 sanding and refinishing cycles over the floor's lifespan — the most refinishing capacity of any product in the AMUER oak range. However, refinishing AH-07 requires specialist consideration: the embossed surface texture, chemical treatment colour, and broken edge profile will be removed or altered by sanding. After sanding, AH-07 can be refinished with a compatible wax oil; re-embossing and re-treating are production processes not replicable on-site. Contact AMUER for refinishing guidance on AH-07 specifically.
Q7.   What is the minimum order for AH-07?
Yes — AH-08 has a 4mm solid oak wear layer supporting 3–4 full sanding and refinishing cycles over the floor's lifespan. After sanding, AH-08 can be re-embossed at the correct depth to restore the relief texture, re-chemically treated to restore the tonal character, and re-finished with wax oil to restore the full specification. The re-embossment and re-treatment steps require specialist equipment — this should be discussed with the refinishing specialist before work starts.
Q8. What is the minimum order for AH-08?
Standard MOQ is 200 m² per SKU from our China factory. Free samples available — email arboren@arboren.com. Samples dispatched within 4-5 business days. OEM orders based on AH-07 specification available from 200 m² MOQ.
